The Communist Party’s Supreme Procuratorate recently made a decision to arrest Dong Hong, the former deputy head of the Central Inspection Group, on suspicion of accepting bribes. Dong Hong is a former member of the Communist Party’s Vice President Wang Qishan, and has been associated with him for many years in his career since 1998. As Wang Qishan was the first secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection after Xi Jinping came to power, the fall of Dong Hong has made the relationship between Xi and Wang delicate. Xinhua News Agency, the official media of the Communist Party of China, reported on the 26th that Dong Hong’s case of alleged bribery was completed by the State Supervision Commission and transferred to the procuratorial organs for examination and prosecution.

In 2002, when Wang Qishan moved south to Hainan to become secretary of the provincial party committee, Dong Hong also served as deputy secretary general of the Hainan provincial party committee, and in 2003, when Wang Qishan took over as mayor of Beijing during the SARS epidemic, Dong Hong also served as deputy secretary general of the Beijing municipal government.
After Wang Qishan became a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee at the 18th CPC National Congress and became the Secretary of the CCDI, Dong Hong also served as a deputy ministerial inspector, and in February 2015, he became the deputy head of the 12th Inspection Group of the Central Government, stationed at China Telecom Group Corporation.
