Why did the Chinese Communist Party block Wen Jiabao’s article?

On the eve of this year’s Qingming Festival, former CCP Premier Wen Jiabao, who published an article commemorating his mother’s death late last year in a local newspaper that many people had not heard of, the Macau Herald, was actually blocked by the entire CCP network.

As a former official of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, I read the article carefully multiple times in light of various regulations within the CCP system and found nothing wrong with it.

It neither violates the Constitution formulated by the CCP, nor the Party Constitution, Certain Guidelines on Political Life within the Party, Regulations on Disciplinary Punishment of the CCP, etc. formulated by the CCP, nor the CCP’s Resolution on Certain Historical Issues since the Founding of the Nation.

If this is the case, why did the CCP block the whole network? There have been many articles interpreting this, all of which have some validity. In my opinion: there are two main reasons.

First, the CCP has no self-confidence.

In 2016, Xi Jinping said at a conference to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CPC that the CPC should adhere to the “four self-confidences”, namely “self-confidence in the road, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics”. Xi particularly emphasized that “cultural confidence is a more fundamental, broader and deeper confidence”.

The CPC has been advocating the superiority of socialism, arguing that the road of socialism taken by the CPC is getting broader and broader, and the more it goes, the more “road confidence” it has. From 1956, when the CPC completed the three major reforms and entered into the comprehensive construction of socialism, to 2021, the CPC has been following the road of socialism for 65 years. From 2012, when the 18th CPC Congress proposed “road confidence” to this year, it has been nine years.

However, to this day, Wen Jiabao, who has been a member of the Party for 56 years, has worked in Zhongnanhai for 28 years, and has been a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Political Bureau and Premier of the State Council for 10 years, wrote an article entitled “My Mother” without any problem of lawlessness and discipline, but it was blocked by the entire CPC network. Where is the CCP’s “road confidence”?

This year marks 100 years since the founding of the CPC and 100 years since the belief in Marxism. The CCP believes that Marxism is a “scientific truth” and a powerful ideological weapon for understanding and transforming the world, and is very “theoretically confident”.

However, so far no Marxist theorist has come forward to give a convincing analysis and critique of what is wrong with Wen’s article. All Marxist theorists in the CCP are dumb, including Wang Huning, the ideological chief of the CCP and a member of the Standing Committee of the CCP’s Politburo, who is known as the “third dynasty state teacher” and the “top think tank.

It can be said that there is no reason for the CCP to block Wen’s article, just that some of the words, phrases and sentences in it make some people with extreme nervousness feel harsh, awkward and uncomfortable when they read it. Where is the CCP’s “theoretical confidence”?

As for the “institutional confidence”, as mentioned above, Wen’s article did not violate any laws and regulations. The blocking of this article reflects not “institutional confidence” but extreme lack of confidence in the system, so much so that none of the CCP officials who “supervised” this article complied with the most important laws and regulations of the CCP, such as the Constitution and the Party Constitution.

There is no way to talk about “cultural confidence”. Anyone with normal thinking, logic and emotion can at least tolerate, if not fully agree with, Wen’s writings. However, the area ruled by the Chinese Communist Party, which claims to have 9.6 million square kilometers, cannot accommodate an article about Wen’s memory of his mother!

Second, the Chinese Communist Party is seriously ill.

Wen Jiabao is from a civilian background, not a second-generation Red, nor a second-generation official. He has neither been the first in command of a provincial party committee or provincial government, nor the first in command of an important ministry under the CPC Central Committee or the State Council. In theory, Wen’s qualifications, is not suitable for the State Council Premier.

However, Wen became the Premier of the State Council. The reason is: he is a relatively low-key person, without too much sharpness, and acceptable to all parties. Wen also did some good things during his tenure as premier. For example, Wen is credited with the arrest of Bo Xilai, then a member of the Communist Party’s Politburo and secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee.

On October 26, 2012, when the power struggle at the top before the 18th Communist Party Congress was raging, the New York Times published a lengthy investigative report on corruption in Wen’s family, saying that Wen’s family had amassed at least $2.7 billion in assets over the past 20 years, including Wen’s mother, wife, children, younger brother and younger brother-in-law, all of whom had made a fortune.

At the time, a source close to the top of the Communist Party told the Epoch Times that Wen had written five times to the top of the Communist Party asking for an independent investigation into rumors of corruption in his family. Previously, he had made such a request several times at a meeting of the CCP’s Politburo and said that if he had committed any corruption, he was willing to resign immediately and accept the Party’s discipline and state law. Wen’s attitude toward his family’s corruption rumors is also commendable.

There are many factions in the CCP, and Wen does not belong to Jiang’s faction, Xi’s faction, the group’s faction, the princeling party, etc. He is not a far-leftist or far-rightist, but a more moderate person, someone who stands between the left and the right.

Wen is not in control of the gun (military), the knife (political and legal), nor the money (finance), nor even the “pen” (propaganda), otherwise, he would not be unable to find a media in mainland China and go to Macau to find a small, unknown media to publish articles. Wen is just a retired old man without any real power. If the Chinese Communist Party can’t even tolerate someone like Wen, it only means that the Chinese Communist Party is seriously ill.

Wen’s article about the persecution of his parents during the Cultural Revolution is an objective fact and does not go beyond the framework set by the Resolution on Certain Historical Issues of the Party since the Founding of the People’s Republic, which was adopted at the Sixth Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party.

The above-mentioned resolution characterized the Cultural Revolution as “a civil unrest that was wrongly started by the leader (Mao Zedong) and exploited by the reactionary group (Lin Biao and Jiang Qing counter-revolutionary group), which brought serious disasters to the Party, the country and the people of all nationalities”, and Mao Zedong was mainly responsible for “this global and long-lasting serious left-leaning error Mao Zedong was mainly responsible for “this global and prolonged serious left-leaning error”.

Although this characterization is not entirely accurate, one thing is correct, that is, the Cultural Revolution has brought “serious disasters” to the people of all ethnic groups. Wen talked truthfully about the disasters his parents suffered during the Cultural Revolution, so what is wrong with that?

Today, on Qingming Festival, two strange things happened on the mainland: First, the Communist Party allowed the grave of Jiang Qing, who killed many people during the 10-year Cultural Revolution and committed suicide after being sentenced to death, to be opened to the public; second, the Communist Party did not allow the grave of Zhao Ziyang, the former Communist Party leader who denied the Cultural Revolution and made great contributions to the reform and opening up of the Communist Party, to be opened to the public.

The blocking of Wen Jiabao’s articles, the banning of the public from visiting Zhao Ziyang’s grave, and the opening of the grave of the blood-soaked Jiang Qing to the public are three things that show that the CCP today is returning to the Cultural Revolution.

What kind of era was the Cultural Revolution? Luo Yu, son of former CCP general Luo Ruiqing, has a description. He said that the Cultural Revolution was “a decade in which the whole Party, the whole army, and the whole nation went crazy. Looking at the Cultural Revolution with the normal mindset of normal people, this description is concise, graphic and accurate.

Today, 100 years after the founding of the CCP, 72 years after the establishment of the government, and 43 years after the implementation of reform and opening up, the CCP is returning to the Cultural Revolution, which brought deep disaster to the Chinese nation. What does this show?

It means that the contradictions accumulated by the CCP over the past century have reached a point where they cannot be solved, and the CCP is no longer capable of self-reflection and correcting mistakes.

The Chinese Communist Party is taking its own life

Wen Jiabao’s article reads: “I sympathize with the poor and the weak, and oppose bullying and oppression. The China I have in mind should be a country full of fairness and justice, where there will always be respect for the human heart, humanity and the essence of man, and where there will always be an air of youth, freedom and struggle.”

Wen Jiabao is a member of the Communist Party, a former high-ranking Communist Party official, and undoubtedly a man of party spirit. But what does the above passage reveal? It is human nature. Although the Chinese Communist Party has been using party spirit to obliterate humanity, Wen Jiabao’s humanity is still there, still has human feelings, still speaks human words. This is the most crucial reason why the CCP blocked Wen Jiabao’s article.

The Chinese Communist Party cannot tolerate Wen Jiabao, who can it tolerate?

Most people who have humanity are not tolerated by the CCP. When Zhao Ziyang was defeated, it was because he overcame his party spirit with his humanity on the major issue of the June 4 massacre.

Zhao Ziyang’s four sons and one daughter wrote in an article commemorating the centennial of Zhao’s birth.

“Today, we are faced with the degradation of thought and the poverty of philosophy; we have lost the profound exploration of the dragon and the tiger, and cannot see the faint spark of wisdom; we have neither the warmth of humane care nor the slightest touch of the heart. This is a spiritual predicament not seen in a century.”

“As the ancients said: ‘There is no sage in the wild, it is the weather of the flourishing world’. Now, after years of ‘reverse elimination’ of the best and the worst, there are few people who are upright and honest; there are many people who are not honest and shameful.”

“These phenomena of ‘its rise is also booming, its death is also fast’ are not uncommon in Chinese history, but so fast, so complete, unheard of in history.”

These three passages are the truest portrayal of the reality of the Chinese Communist Party today.

The CCP cannot tolerate Wen Jiabao, but has been giving a wide berth to Jiang Zemin, the chief backstage of the most serious corrupt elements in contemporary China.

On September 1, 2016, Hong Kong’s Global News Hour published an article, “Party, Government and Military Tigers Pile Up Source to Blame,” talking about the most serious group of corrupt elements in the top echelons of the CCP’s party, government and military promoted and reappointed by Jiang Zemin when he was in power, such as Zhou Yongkang, former member of the Standing Committee of the CCP Political Bureau and Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Committee; Xu Caihou, former member of the CCP Political Bureau and Chairman of the Central Military Commission; Guo Boxiong, former member of the CCP Political Bureau and Chairman of the Central Military Commission etc.

The article said that these party, government and military “tigers” have been reported and exposed during their tenure in different official positions, but they have not been investigated and punished, but they have been promoted and promoted. “The company’s main goal is to provide the best possible service to its customers. Who is the ‘boss’ (in the background)? Jiang Zemin. Will the ‘boss’ be uncovered? The people are waiting to see.”

From 2016 to 2021, the people have been waiting for five years without seeing Jiang Zemin being “uncovered.”

The Chinese Communist Party did not allow Wen Jiabao to send a message to honor his mother, but allowed Jiang Zemin, the worst villain in the Communist Party, to go free for a long time.
