The Los Angeles Times reported Friday, April 23, that according to four sources, the California National Guard was told last March to put an F-15C fighter jet on alert, fully fueled and ready to go to scare citizens protesting Gov. Governor Newsom’s (R) Chinese Communist virus outbreak lockdown order.
The order was given verbally and did not detail the mission, the sources said. But given the aircraft’s limitations, they believe it meant the planes would fly low over the protesters at alarming speeds, with flames shooting from burners on the back of the aircraft to scare and disperse the protesters. They said fighter jets had been used occasionally in this manner in war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan.
One of the sources told the Los Angeles Times, “It’s a totally illegal order that brings the military into disrepute. It looks like we’re threatening civilians.”
Another source said, “F-15C air-to-air fighters are war machines, not meant to quell civil unrest. The readiness of the F-15C during the protests was “absolutely unprecedented” and shocking.
The sources also revealed that the aircraft was placed on alert, fueled and ready to take off during last year’s Floyd-induced protests and during the presidential election on Nov. 3. The Los Angeles Times reviewed internal documents from the California National Guard and found that the fighter jet, was indeed placed on alert during election week and used to terrorize civilians.
The F-15C can reach supersonic speeds, fire air-to-air missiles and is armed with a 20-millimeter cannon. It is expensive to operate, costing nearly $25,000 per flight hour, according to the Guard.
