The founder of Beijing’s “798 Art District” was investigated by the Discipline Inspection Commission and fell from the horse

Beijing’s famous “798 Art District” is not calm. According to the Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection on the 23rd, Wang Yanling, chairman of Beijing 798 Cultural and Creative Industries Investment Co. A week ago, he had attended a public event.

He was assigned to work at the magnet steel branch of the state-owned 798 factory in 1986, and was recognized as the branch director in 1998. In the beginning of the 21st century, when the reform of the state-owned enterprises in China took place, the 798 factory, while reorganizing and developing its industry, invested in the creation of the art park and the development of related industries, becoming a famous cultural and creative industrial park in China and abroad, and one of the cultural landmarks in Beijing.

The company is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of the United States of America.

Beijing’s 798 Art District, located in the Dashanzi area of Jiuxianqiao Street in Chaoyang District, benefited from the low rents of state-owned enterprises after the reform of the building, and many artists’ studios and contemporary art institutions from around and outside Beijing began to gather here, gradually forming an art colony, famous for contemporary art and the 798 lifestyle, and one of the must-see attractions for tourists visiting Beijing.

But as its fame grew, the 798 Art District began to suffer from speculation since the Beijing Olympics, and rents rose. Faced with future operational challenges, Wang Yanling has said that he wants to make 798 a unique art park in the world, and that marketization is the only way to develop strategically in the future.

It is worth noting that less than a week ago, at around 17:00 on April 18, a fire broke out in the 798 Art Zone, starting on the second floor mezzanine of the E02-1 unused building in the Art Zone.
