Former U.S. President Donald Trump is considering moving to New Jersey for the summer, three months after leaving the White House.
Bloomberg on Saturday (April 24) quoted a source familiar with Trump’s thinking as saying the former U.S. president would spend the summer at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, although the plan has not been finalized.
The New Jersey golf club is about an hour’s drive from Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan and has been described as “the perfect destination for those seeking privacy and exclusive space for their families.
Years ago, Trump reportedly handpicked the chandeliers for the facility, even including the ashtrays in the men’s locker room. Trump has also built several private villas on the property.
Trump has been living at the Sea Lake estate in Palm Beach, Florida, since he left the presidency, meeting Republican politicians and being welcomed by local people.
Sea Lake has become a magnet for politicians, hosting fundraisers such as a banquet for the Republican National Committee and a luncheon for Florida Senator Marc Rubio.
Trump occasionally appears at events, and his popularity among Republicans remains high.
The Trump All-American Golf Club in Bedminster was scheduled to host the PGA Championship in 2022, which was originally agreed upon long before Trump won the 2016 election, but the PGA of America board decided to cancel its partnership with the Trump Group after the violence at the Capitol in January.
Trump Golf Club in New Jersey is one of the Trump Group’s largest sources of golf revenue, bringing in a total of $14.7 million for the first 20 days of 2020 and 2021, according to financial disclosures. By comparison, Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course in Florida generated $13.3 million in revenue.
