Israeli-Palestinian clashes erupt in Jerusalem, more than 120 injured

Tensions rose as clashes erupted overnight in the Israeli-occupied eastern part of Jerusalem, with more than 100 Palestinians and 20 Israeli police officers wounded, medical personnel and police said today, as police banned gatherings at specific locations and online videos of young people being attacked.

The far-right Israeli group Lehava marched through the walled Old City of Jerusalem last night to protest anti-Semitic violence, with hundreds of participants. On the way, marchers harassed Palestinians and chanted “Death to Arabs. At the end of the march, physical clashes broke out outside the entrances and exits of the Old City.

Since the start of the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan on the 13th, this location has often been the scene of disturbances at night. Palestinians complain that police do not allow them to enter the hiking area around the walls of the Old City, a popular meeting place for Ba’athis after the daytime fasting during Ramadan.

In addition, a series of videos recently circulated on the Internet showing young Arabs attacking ultra-Orthodox Jews and Jewish extremists bullying Arabs in the streets at night have turned into clashes between the two sides, raising tensions in the city.

The Palestine Red Crescent (Palestinian Red Crescent) said today that it has treated at least 105 wounded people, with about 20 of them taken to hospitals.

Israeli police said 20 officers were injured in the clashes, including three who were hospitalized. According to police, hundreds of rioters disrupted order with violence last night, including throwing stones and objects at police forces stationed near the Old City.

Videos circulated on social media also showed Palestinians attacking ultra-Orthodox Jews early this morning. Israeli police said more than 50 people were arrested overnight.
