In November last year, the local public security to Sun Dawu and Dawu Group 29 other management involved in provocation and disruption of production and business and other charges arrested people, 25 of them are still in custody, including Sun Dawu’s wife, son and daughter-in-law.
Sun Dawu arrested in the same case includes almost all members of the leadership of the Dawu Group, their charges are illegal mining, forced transactions, fraud and so on. The local government has reportedly sent 29 working groups to take over Sun Dawu’s companies.
People familiar with Sun’s case said authorities ordered the arrest of all top officials of the Dawu Group, nominally as a result of a land dispute between the group and a state farm in Baoding, Hebei, but in reality because authorities could not tolerate Sun’s outspokenness.
Sun came from a peasant background and started out with 1,000 chickens and 50 pigs in 1985, becoming known in China as the “top chicken farmer” and later founding the Dawu Group. He was once hailed as the conscience of Chinese entrepreneurs. He likes to comment on current affairs and has similar ideas to many public intellectuals in Beijing.
