A Tunisian man stabbed to death a female employee at the Rambouillet police station in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, and the suspect was shot by a police officer at the scene and died of his wounds, according to French district prosecutors and police sources. The suspect had been screaming “Allahu Akbar” at the time of the murder.
Villa Lambreuil is located about 60 kilometers from Paris, an affluent municipality.
The attack took place at 2:20 p.m. (8:20 a.m. EST) today in a secure access area of the police district, sources said, adding that the woman, 48, was stabbed twice in the throat.

AFP reports that French counter-terrorism prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard, who is leading the investigation, said outside the police station in the southwestern Paris suburb of Villa Rambouillet that “the attacker’s words” indicated a motive for the terrorist attack. The Tunisian suspect was shot by police at the scene and died of his wounds.
After the deadly attack, French President Emmanuel Macron said France would never give in to “Islamic terrorism.
He tweeted, “In the confrontation with Islamic terrorism, we will never give in.” He also referred to the murdered woman as Stephanie.
Sources close to the investigation said the suspect, 36, was not a person of interest to security agencies in advance.
