On his “Tucker Carlson Tonight” show Wednesday (April 21), Fox TV host Tucker Carlson said radicals are using the death of police officer Derek Chauvin the way they used George Floyd’s death. The trial of police officer Derek Chauvin is being used by radicals to advance an extreme leftist platform that will change America forever.
A translation of Carlson’s program follows.
Police Officer Chauvin was convicted Tuesday (April 20). The trial ran for more than a month. At times, the testimony was complex and technical. But in reality, there was always only one piece of relevant evidence: the videotape of George Floyd’s death on a Minneapolis street last May.
If you haven’t seen the tape recently, it will still be as shocking as the day it was shot. You’ll see Floyd somehow knowing he was going to die, and finally he did. It’s heartbreaking. Millions of Americans saw this and they were horrified. Many decided as they watched that Officer Jovon must have committed a brutal crime.
So it is not surprising that the jury came to the same conclusion. That videotape seemed to say it all. In fact, even if no one outside the courtroom had seen the tape, Jovon could still have been convicted. The tape was so powerful. That’s entirely possible.
Unfortunately, we don’t know this. We can only speculate, because ultimately that’s not what actually happened. The Freud tape went viral and it became the centerpiece of a new political movement. Political actors used the tape and Floyd’s death to take control of the country and change her forever. Then last month, and this is the key, some of these same people went even further.
They worked to change the outcome of the Jovian trial. That’s one thing we should never allow, no matter what we think about a specific case. A civilized country has a fair justice system. That is its hallmark. It’s the difference between a country you want to live in and a place you don’t even want to play in. What is most important to a civilized country is that by law, every citizen must be held to the same strict standards as every other citizen – no matter how popular or unpopular a particular accused person may be. It applies regardless of the crime charged. Civilized nations do not tolerate jury intimidation. When they see it, they must stop it. They can never allow the threat of violence to influence the outcome of a trial. Not under any circumstances. That would be on the opposite side of justice, and that would be mob rule.
The United States has tried to do that in the past. Yet on Tuesday, even though the jury in Minneapolis is still deliberating the case, we saw the president of the United States on supporting the prosecution of Jovan.
We saw one of the most powerful members of Congress (Maxine Waters) tell a group of angry people that they should act violently if the jury dares to acquit. We saw the city of Minneapolis shrug off responsibility for Floyd’s death during the trial, and Jovian’s lawyers have yet to even make closing statements in his case.
Most ominously, we saw the mob threaten a defense witness with death – smearing blood on the door of the house they believed to be his – and then flee. The Crown seemed uninterested in catching them.
These are horrific acts. It doesn’t matter if you think Jovian is guilty and deserves to be punished. It doesn’t matter who you voted for. It doesn’t matter what you think about anything else. You should be at least as shocked to see the mob trying to influence the outcome of this trial as you were to see the Freud video. This is a rapidly regressing country. But strangely enough, most people don’t seem shocked or dismayed by any of this. The verdict seems to have relieved them. After all, they had seen buildings boarded up and troops on the streets before. They knew very well what acquittal of Jovian would mean. They believed that a guilty verdict, whether just or unjust, would bring peace to the country.
Many people believe this, not just the cynics, but most people, including many Republicans, say so. If we obey Maxine Waters and ignore the pig’s blood, hopefully the riots will end. You’ll see why they think that. After 11 months of “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) violence and intimidation, the Americans decided to pay the ransom. They sacrificed Jovan for a nation’s forgiveness. On television, they tell us this most clearly. They tell us that America is on trial, not just for the Minneapolis cop Jovian, but for all of us – our history, our culture, our institutions.
We downplay it, we submit to it. But it is foolish for us to do so. A wise nation sticks to its principles, quells riots, and does not submit to the mob, because the mob is never satisfied. No matter what demands you grant, they will demand more. Now, it’s no surprise that they are demanding more. This is the reaction of two of the most powerful people in America to yesterday’s verdict. Remember, no one has suggested that race or color played any role in Floyd’s death. If you had watched the trial, you would have known that. These people didn’t watch the trial, they weren’t interested in the details. Their plan was to use the trial like they used Floyd.
Vice President Harris: Measuring justice is not the same as equal justice. This verdict brings us closer, and the truth is we still have a lot of work to do. We still have to reform the system.
President Biden: No one should be above the law. Today’s ruling sends that message. But it’s not enough. We can’t stop there. “We have to reform a system.”
And while they didn’t say how they’re going to do that, their intentions are clear. They meant it.
So it turns out that Jovian’s verdict is not the end of the revolution. It is not the end of the road we have seen in the last year since Freud’s death. It is only the beginning of the revolution. The Attorney General has announced that the investigation into Floyd’s death is ongoing. Ongoing? Didn’t we just have a month-long trial with all the evidence? Yes, we did. But that’s just the beginning.
So what do we expect next? It’s hard to know exactly, but there are signs. For example, “Black Lives Matter” activists celebrated the Jovian verdict in New York. Floyd died in a completely different area from New York, 1,200 miles away. Presumably, they did not know Floyd. They may not have watched the trial. But for these people, justice for Floyd was not the point; the never-ending racial conflict was.
Protesters outside restaurants in Brooklyn shouted “Get the f— out of New York,” “We don’t want you here,” and “We don’t want your f—ing money.
People of the wrong color can now leave New York. They’re not allowed to own restaurants. That’s what they say. Everyone pretends they didn’t notice what they said, but they did. The point is, people don’t usually talk like that in public, and when they do, at least they get chastised. There can’t be a multi-ethnic nation if someone is yelling in the street like that without anyone objecting. So why are they doing this now? The reason is simple: results can be achieved. Radicalism works. Violence works. That’s the lesson. We have taught the mob that lesson. At least one “Black Lives Matter” activist is willing to speak up.
“Black Lives Matter activist Hawk Newsome says: A mix of violent and non-violent protest has worked. That’s the bottom line. When we marched peacefully, Americans didn’t listen to us. I’m not saying people will go back to the streets, but Americans must know that if you continue to let us be murdered in the streets without justice, we will create hell in America.
It’s that simple: violent protest gets results. Clearly, this is a threat. Unfortunately, it’s also true. Riots do work. You get what you want when you burn cities down. You get rich and famous from corporate donations. You will get the verdict you demand from a jury. Even if the rest of us won’t admit it, the rioters know this all too well. By allowing Wendy’s to be burned, Macy’s to be looted, and police stations to be destroyed, the rest of us have given up our power as citizens to the most violent, unreasonable, and least productive people in this country. Why did we do this? Perhaps historians will be able to explain this. In the meantime, prepare for the next stage. But, once again, don’t lie to yourself. Jovian’s conviction is not a check-off; it simply adds new debt.
Henry Rogers (now known as Ibram Kendi), the Democratic Party’s royal race scholar, has shown us that Jovian was only the beginning, and that the country is in transition.
Kendi says: And now what? Jovian is about to go to prison, but will America move toward justice? Is justice going to convict the police, or is justice going to convict America? …… It’s easy to blame officers like Jovian, but the problem is structural, the problem is historical …… Justice has already convicted America. Now we must take the time to transform this country.
Look, we were all convicted of murder. By the way, you can’t blame Kenedy. That guy took millions of dollars from our big corporations. He was trained within the academy. The tuition you paid is probably paying his salary. Why would you do that? When he calls for you to be punished for attempted murder, why should the rest of us do that?
So what exactly does the change that Kendi is calling for look like? What are the prospects for this reform? Bree Newsome gives some clues. She is one of America’s most prominent “Black Lives Matter” activists. On Wednesday morning, she announced that police should not be allowed to break up fights in the future.
She tweeted, “Teenagers fight all the time, including fights involving knives. We don’t need the police to step in and solve these problems and use a weapon against one of the teens. Everyone should be horrified that the elite whites in power have done so thoroughly successful in not only removing us from the basic means of self-sufficiency, but convincing us that we need armed police officers to run our kids and communities.”
You may scoff at Kendy, the president or vice president, Newsome and people like her. But let’s be clear, the Biden administration doesn’t do that. It takes every word very seriously. That means your community may soon see such reform. And what will happen?
Well, if you live in an affluent community, it’s going to be absolutely fine because you’ll hire private security. And there will be a lot of American police officers eager to become private security guards because the income is higher and they don’t have to listen to Kenedy. But for everyone else, what’s the next step?
Well, here’s some data, and it comes from the Vox website. The site cites the following study.
“From 2014 to 2019, (researchers) tracked more than 1,600 ‘Black Lives Matter expensive’ protests across the United States, most of them in major cities, with nearly 350,000 protesters.” The result: “There were about 300 fewer homicides by police in areas where ‘black lives matter’ protests occurred.”
But this came at a cost: “The study also showed a 10 percent increase in murders in those areas where Black Lives Matter protests occurred. That means from 2014 to 2019, about 1,000 to 6,000 more people were murdered in places with protests than would be expected if the trends were the same in both places.”
Doing the math? Thanks to Black Lives Matter, the researcher said, police have shot about 300 fewer suspects. In return, as many as 6,000 new murders took place and many innocent people and children were killed. That’s what we’re bargaining for!
