U.S. job market continues to improve

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, initial jobless claims for the week of April 17 were recorded at 547,000, a new low since the week of March 14 last year and well below the expected 617,000, while lower than the previous value of 576,000.

The U.S. job market is continuing to strengthen. With the easing of the epidemic embargo, corporate employers are looking to fill the open positions left by the restrictions of the epidemic. Job growth will accelerate further after the goal of an average of 3 million doses of vaccine per day is met. Manufacturing, retail sales and other indicators in the U.S. have also been strong in recent weeks.

Continuing claims for unemployment benefits in the U.S. fell by 34,000 to 3.67 million in the week ended April 10.

By region, claims fell the most in Texas and New York, and rose the most in Virginia and Indiana.
