Fu Guohao, a reporter for the Global Times, a mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party, was attacked at a rally against sending China to the Hong Kong airport the year before. In his latest online post, Fu Guohao’s father said that he recently left the Global Times because he was unable to find a place to live in Beijing.
In an article posted on his headline account today, Fu Xue Cheng, father of Fu Guohao, said on behalf of his son, “Leaving Beijing, leaving the Global Times, leaving Laohu, is a painful and helpless choice for Fu Guohao,” describing that Fu has been with the Global Times for nearly three years and has been working happily with his colleagues, but at the age of 30, his “income and financial situation make it difficult for him to have a home in Beijing. His parents could not allow their only son to drift around Beijing, so he decided to leave Beijing and Huan Shi.
The posting ended with the words, “8.13.2019, has become history, Huan Shi has become the past, but his goal will not be lost, his footsteps are still solid!
After the posting, Chinese netizens had mixed reactions, some felt the same way, saying that it was impossible to buy a house in Beijing at the age of 30 on his own, while others questioned the purpose of Fu Guohao’s father: “What does his father mean by this? Is he hoping that “Ring Time” will buy a suite for his son?” Maybe his father thinks that this will help his son to solve the Beijing household registration and house. The “strange, their own inability to blame the country? How many mainland people supported him in the beginning, what does his father mean by that? Blame the country’s high property prices?”
In September of the previous year, Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the Global Times, posted that the Global Times had held a “Hong Kong Reporting Recognition Ceremony” and Fu Guohao had received a 100,000 RMB bonus, saying that Fu Guohao’s income had been low and he was living in a rented apartment, hoping that the 100,000 RMB bonus would bring him good luck and that he would eventually be able to buy a house in Beijing and marry his daughter-in-law.
On the other hand, the three Hong Kong protesters involved in the case earlier this year riot crime into, was heavily sentenced to four years and three months to five and a half years.
