Currently, there are 56.9 million cumulative diagnosed cases and 1.3 million deaths worldwide. For every 100 new cases recently diagnosed worldwide, about 39 are from European countries.

According to Reuters, France has surpassed Russia as the worst affected country in Europe. France is now second only to the United States, India, and Brazil in terms of the severity of the epidemic.
