The National Archives reported Wednesday, April 21, that Joe Biden told Americans this week that they will celebrate “independence from the virus” on the Fourth of July, America’s national holiday, rather than independence from British colonial rule, as Americans have done for nearly 250 years.
Biden said, “Back on March 11, I outlined a vision of America before July 4 that was closer to the America that lived in a state of normalcy more than a year ago.”
Biden said, “We have more work to do in May and June in order to be with family and friends on July 4 and to be able to celebrate America’s independence from the virus.”
Biden’s remarks came after he missed a meeting with the Japanese prime minister last week.
