Market research firm Strategy Analystics has released its global cell phone shipments report for the first quarter of 2021, showing that 340 million smartphones were shipped worldwide, up 24 percent year-on-year and a record high since 2015.

Samsung ranked first with 77 million units shipped, with a 23% market share and 32% annual growth. Apple shipped 57 million units in the first quarter, up 44% compared to 39 million units in the same period last year, with a 17% market share, ranking second.

Xiaomi cell phone shipments of 49 million units in the first quarter, compared with the same period last year, an increase of 80%, accounting for 15% of the market share, ranking third. 38 million units shipped by OPPO, 11% market share ranked fourth. The fifth place is the shipment of 37 million units of Vivo.

It is worth mentioning that Huawei fell out of the top five in global smartphone shipments. According to public information, Huawei’s cell phone has fallen out of the top five in the global cell phone shipment ranking in the fourth quarter of 2020.

According to the “Securities Times” reported on April 21, a cell phone dealer in Shenzhen said, “This year, Huawei businessmen have no money to earn, or even lose money. Huawei cell phone take price is higher, each unit rose 200 to 400 yuan, selling price is high cell phone is also not good.”

Some cell phone industry sources said that due to the restricted development of Huawei’s cell phone business, the whole industry is no longer a dominant pattern, there are a number of head enterprises competition, the situation is expected to continue for a longer period of time.
