Japan’s All Nippon Airways Transport (ANA) a cargo plane from Paris to Tokyo Haneda Airport, 19 in flight, the co-pilot suddenly became unconscious and lost consciousness, the captain was alarmed by the difference, the aircraft emergency landing in the Russian airport, eight crew members are safe.
The incident occurred at around 9:15 a.m. (local time) on the 19th, with only seven crew members on board the ANA Boeing 787-8 cargo plane, which was flying about 660 kilometers northeast of Novosibirsk at an altitude of 11,500 meters to 12,500 meters.
The captain noticed that the co-pilot “showed signs of a stroke, had a sudden headache and facial asymmetry” and declared an emergency. Although the co-pilot regained consciousness soon after, the captain asked him to rest in the cabin while another pilot flew and decided to divert to the nearest airport.
The cargo plane then made an emergency landing at Tolmachevo Airport in Siberia, Russia, where all eight crew members were safe; the co-pilot was taken to the hospital.
Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism determined that it was a “major accident” that could have caused an accident.
The Asahi Shimbun reports that the accident occurred in Russia and will be investigated by Russian authorities.
