Biden calls family on Floyd verdict: Justice is served

A jury in a Minnesota court found Derek Chauvin, the white Minneapolis police officer who kneed Floyd to death, guilty of all three counts of murder.

Chauvin, a white former Minneapolis police officer, was convicted on all three counts of killing the African-American Floyd by kneeling him to death.

After a jury convicted Shavin of second- and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, Biden said that while it doesn’t change the fact of the loss, at least justice has come, and “we’re all relieved to be found guilty of not just one, but all three counts.”

Minnesota Governor Walz (Tim Walz) said today’s verdict makes Minnesota justice an important step forward, the trial is over, but the heavy responsibility is just beginning.

Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe pointed out that Shavin should not be free to see the light of day again, but that alone is far from enough to allow Shavin to murder Floyd’s system must be changed, if not bystanders with an iPhone camera, Shavin may still be at large.

Prime Minister Johnson said he was horrified by Floyd’s death and was pleased to see today’s verdict, and he sends his regards to Floyd’s family and friends.
