Shanghai Fortress” premiere below 4.0 successfully self-destructed, domestic science fiction film looking forward to “The Legend of Tomorrow

Today is the premiere day of Shanghai Fortress, Douban opened with a score of 4.2, and as of this writing, nearly 30,000 more people scored it, of which nearly 90% scored it below 3.0, causing it to drop below 4.0, and now it only has a score of 3.5, which is unlucky Ne Zha cannon fodder and successfully self-destructed!

Why is it called self-destructing? To put it simply, you can’t live with yourself!

First of all, the year after the trailer controversy, when the “Wandering Earth” has been a big fire, known as the same period of preparation “Shanghai Fortress” to strike while the iron is hot, issued a trailer, rubbing the heat of the behavior of many netizens outraged, even if the director and the original author out to clarify also does not help, for their own creation are not confident, think about their own why bother to start in the first place?

And most importantly, 6 years ago, we were still in the era of faces and flow, who knew that 6 years later the premiere movie market has changed drastically, the public’s level of movie-going is constantly improving, and the demand for movie quality is constantly being monitored, after all, their hard-earned money, choose a weekend, sit happily in the cinema, who does not want to see a quality movie? It’s been half a month since Ne Zha was released, and the box office is still going strong despite the fact that it’s grossed over 3.1 billion.

So, investors threw their money at a director making an urban romance, and a pure traffic star, and lost out right from the start, according to the cat’s first day box office projections, the total box office estimate for Shanghai Fortress is 366 million, which is a total loss for an investment of 300 million!

Secondly, it is rumored that more than 100 million of the 300 million cost is Luhan’s fee, which may be true in the traffic market six years ago. Even if they clarify again and again, it means that they will continue to discredit Shanghai Fortress and completely deplete the public’s expectations for the film, which will undoubtedly add insult to injury for those who have no good feelings towards traffic stars.

The scandal of high ticket prices for the roadshow a few days before the premiere directly made more netizens misunderstand that the tickets were really nearly $1,000 and they said they would not go to the show, and the official had to make a statement in response to the “sky-priced tickets”.

“The movie “Shanghai Fortress” has been well loved and supported by everyone. As a token of gratitude, netizens have made customized arrangements for the roadshow in 10 cities. However, recently, we have received feedback from audiences around the world that some individual theaters and criminals (commonly known as scalpers) have taken advantage of audience enthusiasm to inflate the ticket prices for roadshow events. Although we respect the theater’s right to set its own prices in accordance with the laws of the market, we are firmly opposed to individual theaters taking the opportunity to raise the ticket prices for roadshow events, and more resolutely resist the scalper’s high resale price! I hope everyone will support the movie “Shanghai Fortress” as always.”

Later, Luhan Studio also forwarded this statement, calling on everyone to follow the stars rationally, saying: “Mr. Luhan and Luhan Studio have always opposed unreasonable pricing, and have been actively advocating fans to follow the stars rationally through various public welfare activities. Here, we also make an appeal to the whole industry to reasonably regulate commercial behavior in the market and build a harmonious market environment together.”

But does it work? The word-of-mouth is obvious after the premiere, and I’m speechless at the 1-star negative rating on Douban, as if to witness that bad movies really are bad movies, everyone’s ratings are surprisingly consistent! Although most of Douban is full of non-professional film critics, and has not been eroded by capital in recent years, it can reflect the quality of a film more or less!

Most importantly, our creators of “Shanghai Fortress” made a lot of cheap mistakes.

1. Luhan’s bangs hairstyle has been the most criticized, as a soldier, in the face of gunfire, is the bangs used to block bullets? Not even a fucking cap can hold it down!

2. a love story in science fiction clothing, not worthy of the science fiction banner, how many years later in Shanghai, still using the contemporary car computer paperbacks?

3. demonize Shanghai’s landmarks and Shanghai’s cannons, even the Avengers have to assemble a dozen superheroes to fight the Gestapo, even with casualties, and the lead actor gets a promotion and a raise without a scratch?

In summary, these big and small problems are the creators of their own hand, successfully pitched themselves into the ranks of the bad film, the story plot, the kernel from Jiangnan’s “Shanghai Fortress”, is indeed a flow, as the main star of Luhan, is also a flow of their own, but the film, obviously is a money grab, such a film we do not let him lose money, you are sure that we still have good movies in the future?

Of course, we still have to give our domestic science fiction films a little hope, for example, the planned fall release of the “Tomorrow’s War”, directed by Wu Hyun Hui, directed by Koo Tian Le, Liu Qing Yun, Liu Jialing, Zhang Jia Hui and other stars, although only the Hong Kong trailer is out, special effects technology and sense of the future are far more than the “Shanghai Fortress”.

A meteorite hits the Earth, bringing with it a fast-growing, tentacle-like alien creature that cleanses the planet and kills all life at the same time. The task of saving the Earth falls to an elite team. While battling the alien creatures, they also discover a shocking conspiracy ……

The film’s director, Wu Hyun Hui, is the owner of a special effects company called FATface, which was earlier involved in the production of special effects for films such as “The Warlords”, “Skins”, “Tai Chi 1&2”, etc., but the main special effects for this film were produced by Louis Koo’s own company “One World One Cool”.

The film cost HK$450 million to produce, and he wanted to prove that Hong Kong’s special effects were up to international standards.

I don’t take on more than one job at a time, because it takes time to prepare and create the computer stunts. I seem to have taken up a whole year for two films, “The Fame” and “Silver Empire,” and I was forced to turn down all other requests. It seems that the previous post-production work for the Pang Brothers’ film “Ghost Dimension” took as much as nine months. Because of this, I have the best guarantee of quality, which is why I’ve been winning word-of-mouth for three years.

So no matter what, even though Shanghai Fortress flopped, our domestic sci-fi is still working hard to prove to the world that our Chinese sci-fi is always growing, and we’re looking forward to “Tomorrow’s War” to bring us back!
