Pompeo: U.S. ambassador to UN is anti-U.S. is an unqualified diplomat

Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday (April 18) that U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s denunciation of the U.S. Constitution as having a “white supremacist” basis was “tarnishing America. This is an “anti-American” statement that “tarnishes America. He therefore believes Greenfield is unqualified as a U.S. diplomat and should be condemned.

America is a noble place,” Pompeo said Sunday on the “Cat’s Roundtable” radio program. And I heard this week that our ambassador to the United Nations said that our founding is fundamentally corrupt and flawed, not noble and good. So I can’t help but disagree with her.”

Pompeo was responding to remarks Toglinfield recently made against American history. “The original sin of slavery wove white supremacy into our founding documents,” she said.

“Frankly, I think it’s disqualifying to have a U.N. ambassador express a moral relativism without understanding the particularities of the country in which we all live,” Pompeo told show host John Catsimatidis.

Pompeo also said words and actions that tarnish the image of the United States should be rejected, “especially when our enemies try to push that narrative.” He added that the Chinese Communist Party is the greatest threat to the United States and that by saying so, Americans are feeding the anti-American narrative to Chinese Communist Party President Xi Jinping.

Pompeo noted that what makes America special is not racism or nationalism, nor is it a “partisan issue,” especially at a time when there is an influx of immigrants into the country. You see people wanting to migrate here,” he said. …… You see people attracted to the shining cities on the hillside. So to have our ambassador to the United Nations denigrate the United States and its founding principles like that is really reprehensible. In my opinion, if she really believes that, she should resign and let someone who believes in the greatness of America take her place.”

“As time goes on, the greatest threat to the United States of America remains the control of the authoritarian Marxists in China, the Communist Party of China,” Pompeo said, “which affects us in many ways. They are waging an information war against us inside the United States. They are trying to undermine our democracy.”

“They [the Chinese Communist Party] have a huge old army,” Pompeo added, “and perhaps most importantly, they have a leader, Xi Jinping, who aspires to be a global power that undermines the West and makes us all live in a world that looks more like China than the America we know and love of the world.”

Pompeo concluded by saying that anti-American sentiment can destroy the United States from within, as China (the Communist Party) has tried to do just that all over the world.

“We’ve seen the looting they do around the world,” he said, “and we know they’re eager to build more colonies. And we’ve seen how they hack into our telecommunications infrastructure and then unleash a virus on the world and cover it up …… Now it’s not like what happens in China just stays in China. What the Chinese Communist Party does affects us here in the United States.”
