The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. issued an “Explanation of Testing Requirements for People Traveling to China after Receiving the New Guan Vaccine” on the 16th, allowing people who received the vaccine in the U.S. to travel to China. The “instructions” state that those who received inactivated vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson need to arrange their trip to China after completing all the vaccination doses, and because the vaccination may result in a positive IgM antibody test, people must provide a serum IgM antibody test report for the N protein; those who received a Chinese domestic vaccine and tested negative for nucleic acid and positive for antibody can apply for a health code to go to China normally.
The “note” said that the existing Pfizer, Modena and Johnson & Johnson vaccines in the United States are all non-inactivated vaccines, and according to the requirements, Pfizer and Modena must receive two doses, and Johnson & Johnson must receive one dose, and those who plan to go to China must complete the corresponding vaccination doses of different vaccines before arranging their trip to China.
“In order to distinguish whether the positive result is due to vaccination or infection, those who have completed inactivated vaccination and have a positive IgM antibody test result must provide an IgM antibody test report for the N protein when applying for a health code. In addition, they must also sign and submit a “Declaration of Vaccination”, a vaccination voucher, a nucleic acid test report, an IgM antibody test report, and an airline ticket or itinerary, and include as much information as possible to facilitate confirmation of personal identity and determination of vaccine type and vaccination status.
The “instructions” also published an updated list of nucleic acid and antibody testing laboratories acceptable to the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. Details and downloads can be found at https://bit.ly/3ahQVxn, which indicates that passengers can choose from the list. The “instructions” state that passengers can choose the laboratory on the list that provides IgM antibody testing for the N protein, and that sampling must be completed at the departure point within 48 hours prior to boarding; furthermore, when testing, people should ask the sampling agency and testing laboratory to agree to release test results and other personal information to the embassy for verification; if the embassy cannot determine whether the vaccination is true, a health code will not be issued.
The “instructions” state that people who have been tested negative for nucleic acid and positive for IgM antibodies after receiving a Chinese-made vaccine can apply for a health code to China normally after signing and submitting a “Declaration of Vaccination” and a dual test report for nucleic acid and antibodies.
