A man broke into a FedEx warehouse in Indiana on Thursday (16) and opened fire, killing eight people at the scene and sending many others to the hospital with injuries. The police confirmed that the suspect is a departed employee, before the crime has been a public safety hazard signs.
“The New York Times pointed out that the law enforcement agencies identified the shooter as 19-year-old Hall (Brandon Scott Hole).
The police said that Hole began firing on the parking lot as soon as he arrived at the crime scene, when there were at least 100 people at the scene, many of whom happened to be on dinner time and shift change. Other reports say the plant employs more than 4,000 people.
I saw a man with what looked like an assault rifle, or an automatic rifle, and he was shooting outside, and I immediately fell to the ground, scared out of my mind,” Jeremiah Miller, a late-shift employee, told local television station WISH-TV. My friend’s mom came in and told us to get in the car, and (since then) I’ve been informing my co-workers not to come to work today.”
Another employee, Timothy Boillat, said he witnessed more than 30 police cars arrive at the scene after the shooting broke out. He added, “After the loud gunfire, I saw a body on the floor. Fortunately, I was far enough away from the shooter that he couldn’t see me.”

Departing FedEx employee opens fire
The Indianapolis, Indiana, Police Department said Hall’s last job was at FedEx in 2020, and likely had to do last fall. Police said it was unclear why Hall left his job.
Hall had previously been targeted by law enforcement. Hall’s mother had warned law enforcement last year that her son intended to “let the police shoot him.
A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent confirmed that federal agents had interviewed Hall last April and believed he “should be placed in a temporary mental health facility immediately.
The shooting left eight people dead, ranging in age from 19 to 74. Five others were taken to hospital with injuries, one of which was serious.

A string of major shootings across the United States in recent weeks
A spate of mass shootings has erupted across the United States in recent weeks, with four people, including a child, killed at an office building in Southern California just late last month.
On March 22, 10 people were shot and killed at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado. Less than a week before that, a man shot and killed eight people, six of them Asian women, at a massage spa in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Indianapolis shooting was the third in the area so far earlier this year. In January, five people, including a pregnant woman, were killed; in March, three adults and a child were shot and killed.
In the United States, nearly 40,000 people are killed by gunfire each year, and more than half of them are shot themselves.
