Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga is currently visiting the United States, the first foreign head of state he has met since Biden took office, proving that U.S.-Japan relations are the most important issue for both countries at the moment.
The meeting between the U.S. and Japanese leaders in the current tense international situation has stirred sensitivities around the world, and for the Chinese Communist Party, it is more like a lingering nightmare.
The military position on the Taiwan Strait
The U.S.-Japan summit meeting focused on confirming the two countries’ long-term strategy to confront the Chinese Communist Party. First, it is an ideological confrontation. The Chinese Communist Party’s intention to govern the world with communist ideology and the Chinese model has been exposed over the past few years, and the Western world generally feels threatened by the Chinese Communist Party, and the question now is how to unite with Western allies to suppress its expansion.
Second, in the geopolitical arena, both the U.S. and Japan feel the advance of the CCP. The U.S. cannot live without Japan, and Japan cannot live without the U.S. A chain of common interests binds the two countries together. The U.S. and Japan alone have a sense of incompetence in facing the CCP, but the U.S. and Japan together can deal with the CCP with ease. Biden met with Kan to confirm this point.
Before Kan’s visit to the United States, Secretary of State Blinken and Secretary of Defense Austin visited Japan first to set the tone for the summit meeting between the two countries, the most notable of which was the stance taken on the Taiwan Strait issue. At present, for the United States and Japan, Taiwan can not afford to lose, Taiwan is the key to the first island chain, high-tech industry in the world, the loss of Taiwan is a catastrophe for both countries.
Both the U.S. and Japan are concerned that increased tensions in the Taiwan Strait may lead to military conflict, the Japanese side believes it is necessary to explore, once the U.S. military to support Taiwan, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces can provide what assistance. This implies that U.S. troops will be deployed in the event of an attack on Taiwan, and that Japan could be involved in a war under the provisions of the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty, and the Japanese side believes that this possibility should be studied in advance to determine how Japan can assist U.S. forces.
In the meeting between Biden and Kan, it was impossible to avoid the topic of hot war and to confirm each other’s common position in the event of war in the Taiwan Strait.
Again, the U.S.-Japan summit meeting also included the topic of a long-term arms and high-tech race with the Chinese Communist Party. Biden’s siege of the Chinese Communist Party needs the support of Japan and other Western countries, pouring half of the world to compete with the Chinese Communist Party, which is bound to be in a weak position. Only an absolute advantage in armaments and high technology can force the CCP to abide by international rules and avoid the possibility of a hot war with the CCP.
Pulling South Korea, India and the Philippines to surround the Chinese Communist Party
To achieve this goal, the U.S. and Japan also need to join forces to solve South Korea’s problems. The poor relationship between Japan and South Korea will affect South Korea’s position in the U.S.-China competition. South Korea is also a high-tech powerhouse and a major supply chain town, and has long walked a steel line in the U.S.-China relationship, “not a whisper, not a hang”, affecting the U.S. economic and high-tech cuts to the Chinese Communist Party. Biden wants to persuade Kan to make concessions to ease Japan-South Korea relations and achieve the goal of bringing South Korea in and avoiding being used by the Chinese Communist Party.
After Kan’s visit to the U.S., he will also visit India and the Philippines, which are common concerns of the U.S.-Japan Indo-Pacific strategy, solidarity with India, and the separation of China and the Philippines, as well as the South China Sea strategy and the restructuring of the industrial chain, with the U.S. at the helm and Japan at the helm.
The U.S. and Japan have joined forces to operate the Indo-Pacific strategy, which is about the survival of universal values. For many years, the United States’ negligence has given the Chinese Communist Party an opportunity to take advantage of the rapid development of the Chinese Communist Party, which poses a strategic threat to the Western world. The United Kingdom, Canada and the European Union are far away from the Asia-Pacific region, so they can only be moral partners, and in the Asia-Pacific region, the United States can only count on Japan to move forward and retreat together.
To this day, the United States and Japan are torn with the Chinese Communist Party, it is impossible for both sides to retreat, they can only be tied together, open the road in every mountain and build a bridge in case of water. The U.K., Australia and the European Union can certainly strengthen the momentum, but it is the U.S. and Japan themselves that play the key role, which is the significance of Biden’s talks with Kan.
The Chinese Communist Party is certainly angry and afraid of the U.S.-Japan talks, but the situation is such that it does not depend on the subjective will of the Chinese Communist Party. The world has changed dramatically in the past few months, and the external situation facing the CCP is even worse than in the Trump era.
