Jack Ma’s bold statements in his early years have been rehashed from time to time (Photo credit: video screenshot)
Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, has been in trouble since October last year, with his companies under frequent purges and his own situation unclear. Ma himself is also a controversial figure, such as his attitude toward the June Fourth Incident, but some of his early comments also show that he was actually quite “bold” despite his Communist Party name. Recently, his early comments that China should be liberated by the West have been rehashed.
Radio Free Asia recently tweeted [revisiting Jack Ma’s 2013 quote], saying that Jack Ma was interviewed by Hong Kong media in Hong Kong in 2013, and at that time his comments were still quite frank, going so far as to say (in the 80s) that China should be “liberated” by the West first.
The post said that if this speech was published today, it should have been convicted for its words.
