On April 12, there is news that Huawei Mate40 and many other cell phones will no longer distribute chargers.
The official website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology 3C Quality Certification Center shows that Huawei has made adjustments to the charger distribution policy involving the Mate40 series and the nove 8 series of cell phones, and has re-certified them, expecting that these models will no longer distribute chargers, and the switch power adapter will be optional when sold.
Among them, Huawei Mate40 pro originally distributed a 66W super charger, which was sold online for more than a hundred dollars.
Last year, Apple eliminated the distribution of standard chargers in the iPhone 12 series on environmental grounds, sparking controversy among many users. Previously at the Huawei launch, Huawei consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong had teased Apple about the cancellation of the charger, saying that Huawei Mate 40 series phones come with a charger and do not require users to purchase separately.
This time, Huawei canceled the distribution charger policy, immediately caused a hot debate. Some Huawei fans said “a little disappointed”, the charging head is not cheap, Huawei fast charging series wattage is not the same, and is an additional expense. Some Apple users said that Huawei’s policy makes people’s mindset balanced, now Huawei and Apple are not sending chargers, who do not have to gloat.
Industry insiders believe that Huawei’s cancellation of charger delivery is mainly due to a shortage of charger chips as a reluctant move. This year, the global chip shortage is serious, the charger chip is also in shortage crisis.
At the same time, due to the “ban”, many chip manufacturers terminated cooperation with Huawei, Huawei many core parts can not be timely supply. At present, Huawei Mate 40 series of phones are still in short supply, requiring consumers to make reservations to buy. Charger production has also been greatly affected, in Huawei offline sales stores, many models of chargers are in short supply.
