African-American man attacks Asian man in Manhattan for no reason, yells “I’m going to kill someone”

Recently, there have been many cases of assault involving Asian victims. An Asian man was attacked by an African-American hobo man in broad daylight in Manhattan on the 12th, and when the victim chose to avoid it, the man continued to follow him and finally punched the Asian man to the ground; however, it is gratifying that many passers-by witnessed the case and tried to help.

Police said the 44-year-old Asian man was walking on Lexington Avenue at 72nd Street East at about 3:20 p.m. when an African-American man was yelling at other passersby, “Don’t look at me!” but snapped at him and punched him in the back of the head.

According to a video of the scene obtained by ABC7, when the Asian man tried to avoid the suspect, he remained relentless and pushed him hard in front of a store while passing witnesses tried to protect the injured Asian man.

Another video taken by a passerby shows the African-American man standing on a street corner, screaming at a group of people that I’m going to kill someone!” He shouted, “Get out of my face!” The Asian victim, who was already overwhelmed by the sudden blow, stood on the curb with his hands protecting the back of his head, while three or five passersby stood around him, trying to calm and persuade.

A woman who witnessed the incident told ABC7 that the man followed her and also shouted at Asians, Hispanics and whites for no reason, even threatening himself, “Do you want me to kill you?”

City police said that although the case occurred during a recent spike in crimes against Asian victims in the city, the suspect did not use any derogatory or anti-Asian rhetoric and the case is not considered a hate crime at this time.
