On Sunday, April 11, CBS revealed the latest technological invention from the U.S. Department of Defense on its “60 Minutes” program. Medical researchers at the Pentagon have created a microchip that, when inserted under the skin, is capable of detecting the New Coronavirus (Chinese Communist virus).
The revolutionary technology was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), a top-secret unit launched during the Cold War to research new technologies for military use, including innovations to protect soldiers from biological weapons.
Dr. Matt Hepburn, a retired Army colonel and infectious disease physician, revealed that the microchip, which is not widely used outside the Department of Defense, can detect a new coronavirus in a patient before he develops symptoms.
Dr. Hepburn said, “We’re proposing what may sound like a science fiction solution.”
He also likens the diagnostic microchip to a car’s “check engine” alarm. Dr. Hepburn said, “The sensors in the chip can signal that a chemical reaction is taking place inside the body.”
Once a virus is detected, the chip alerts the patient to a rapid blood test.
Dr. Hepburn said, “We can get this information in three to five minutes …… When we shorten the time it takes to diagnose and treat a new coronavirus, we can reduce infections.”
Scientists say the research is critical to preventing outbreaks of the virus in crowded military quarters.
