Pompeo: the border problem had been solved Biden wasted the results of the previous administration

Former U.S. Secretary of State and new Fox News contributor Mike Pompeo slammed the Biden administration on Monday, April 12, on the “Fox & Friends” television show. He argued that Biden’s reversal of Trump’s policies at the southern border was a waste of the gains made by the previous administration in working with multiple countries to resolve the border issue.

Pompeo said, “I always find it amusing when they talk about the United States border security being made by the United States alone. In fact, the approach that we have reached to securing the southern border is the result of our joint efforts and cooperation with the government of Mexico, and our joint efforts and cooperation with the governments of Guatemala and El Salvador and Honduras. We suggested a real relationship with those countries. We negotiated. We all got to a point where we made all of their people’s lives better. As a result, we also secured the southern border.”

He believes that such results were accomplished only after a lot of work (by the previous government), a hard work to build these relationships. “That’s good diplomacy, that’s what our team did,” he said.

“We looked at these countries (to us) and said, ‘OK, we’ll help you solve the problems on the southern border. And we have to get those problems solved. And you have to, you, the United States, have to do the right thing as well.'” Pompeo said.

Pompeo added, “We did it. We negotiated. We made it clear that we were going to close the border and that people were not going to be allowed to come here illegally. And when we did that, we turned off the suckers. That way, the incentive for people to make the terrible trek, to cross into Mexico, was gone. And then we started working with these countries to make sure we could deal with (the border issue).”

He believes that getting along with the countries of the world can’t just be a matter of pushing a button. “You have to work with them, build partnerships, and that’s how we protect American sovereignty.”

Pompeo concluded his criticism by saying, “And now the Biden administration, again, has turned the sucker on.”
