The European Union has set temporary tariffs on flat-rolled aluminum products originating in China after a preliminary investigation found that the products were sold to the EU at artificially low prices. The investigation will end in October, when tariff rates will be set for a five-year period.
The EU has set temporary tariffs ranging from 19.3 percent to 46.7 percent on flat-rolled aluminum products originating in China. Reuters today quoted the EU’s official communiqué as saying on Monday that the tariffs set by the EU executive committee ranged from 19.3 percent to 46.7 percent. The EU Executive Committee is responsible for overseeing the trade policies of the EU’s 27 member states.
According to the communiqué, Nanshan Aluminum and other Nanshan Group companies will be subject to the lowest tariff rate, and Jiangsu Chang Aluminum will face 28.3 percent tariffs. The report said the above temporary anti-dumping tariffs will be implemented from Tuesday and will be applied while the investigation is ongoing. The investigation will end in October, when the tariff rates will be set for a five-year period.
