Biden pleads for paid leave for federal employees across agencies Nearly 3,000 personnel headed to the border to help

The Breitbart News reported Sunday that the Biden administration is pleading with federal employees at various agencies to take paid leave to provide care for thousands of unaccompanied alien children (UACs) arriving at the U.S. border with Mexico.

The New York Times reports that desperate pleas appeared this week in the mailboxes of employees at government agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security and NASA. “Would you consider taking four months of paid leave to help care for immigrant children at a government-run shelter?”

As of Friday, 2,722 employees across the government had volunteered, in most cases with their salaries covered by the Department of Health. Some are caring for children at the shelters, while others are helping with case management, information technology services, food delivery, transportation and other logistics.

The Breitbart News reported that the Biden administration’s redeployment of thousands of federal employees to assist border crossers came as a result of policies in Biden’s first few weeks in office that have left the U.S.-Mexico border already overwhelmed.

In March, federal immigration officials apprehended nearly 170,000 border crossers, including more than 18,600 unaccompanied children, nearly 53,000 families and nearly 97,000 single adults. The number of illegal immigrants has surged under Biden, increasing 72 percent in a single month and 243% compared to March 2020.

Most concerning is that since October 2020, approximately 155,000 illegal aliens have managed to enter the U.S. illegally without being detected by federal immigration officials, an average of 1,500 people per day, according to an exclusive report by Breitbart News.
