The Biden administration is considering sending money to Central American countries to ease the refugee problem for their citizens traveling to the United States.
White House Southern Border Coordinator Roberta Jacobson recently told Reuters that the Biden administration is considering a conditional cash transfer program, while they are also considering sending vaccines for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus to certain countries.
Jacobson did not specify which countries might receive U.S. funding, but the assistance programs under consideration are for three Central American countries from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, which account for the vast majority of illegal immigrants at the border today.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Enforcement (CBP) released an Operational Update on Thursday (8) that said more than 172,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended at the southwest border in March.
Jacobson did not explain to Reuters exactly how the aid program works, but said Biden does not hand out checks directly to people.
“We are looking at all effective programs to address the economic causes that may be contributing to immigration, as well as protection and security causes,” she said. “What I can assure you is that the U.S. government will not be handing out money or checks to people.”
Jacobson has announced that she will leave office at the end of April.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) opposes the Biden administration’s cash-funding plan. “This is an insult to the millions of Americans in our country who are out of work or facing despair,” McCarthy said.
Passing internal documents Sex offender elements seeking re-entry
About three months into the Biden administration, the problem of Central American refugees at the Southwest border has grown worse.
Recently, an anonymous Border Patrol agent who claims to have worked for CBP for more than a decade leaked an internal government document to the nonprofit Project Veritas.
The internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document reportedly states that “during the New Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, criminal sex aliens are attempting to re-enter the United States in record numbers.
The documents were marked as “classified/law enforcement sensitive” and should not be disclosed to the public, the anonymous insider said. One of the documents, dated March 24, 2021, is titled “Border News Daily” and reads “Public Safety: U.S. Border Patrol Apprehensions of Sex Offenders Reach Five-Year High in FY 2021.
The leaked document states that from October 2020 to February 2021, there were 214 arrests of illegal immigrants with a sex offense record in the U.S., compared to 154 in the previous fiscal year.
The insider said the report is accurate and that even the numbers “may be understated” because sometimes criminals whose criminal backgrounds were not discovered were deported for crimes committed in the U.S. and are now trying to re-enter the country.
The Epoch Times reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for comment on the accuracy of the internal document, but did not receive any response by press time.
