“We have the same wife”? CIMB senior cheating brushed off the financial circle

The scandal of Chen Gang, the compliance director of the famous brokerage firm China International Capital Corporation (CICC), cheating on his married female subordinate has been exposed by a nine-minute phone recording on the night of April 7, which then broke the financial circle.

The recording was allegedly made by Ms. Ma’s husband when he called Chen Gang to ask for an explanation. Unlike the common “mutual tearing” of catching adultery, the two “frank and sincere” and “courteous” conversation refreshed the netizens, which is a big reason why this scandal quickly attracted the attention of the whole network.

However, put down the phone, Ms. Ma’s husband turned his head to use Ma’s micro signal, the recording file sent to a 300-person CDF customer group. Some netizens laughed: “The compliance director can’t even hear such an obvious forensic call?”

Here is the full text of the conversation. Netizens specially note: “listening to me most of the night almost died laughing, the dialogue throughout the high energy!”

Original match: you are very testy.

Chen Gang: How do you talk like that?

Original mate: then how do I say? You tube my wife called wife, we two a wife, then we still how to talk, you say.

Chen Gang: You do not say that.

原配: Ma Junhua is still my legal wife, you call her wife, you give me a reasonable explanation, we belong to the conversation between men.

Chen Gang: Well, that’s OK.

原配:You are now sleeping with my wife …… I have been very tolerant, do you think you are doing the right thing? As far as I know you are also married and you have children, right?

Chen Gang: Yes, this thing is more complicated.

The original mate: no matter how complicated it is, then you tell me, do you think you are doing the right thing?

Chen Gang: I did not do the right thing.

The original mate: hey, that’s all. Then the next step I ask, you two will get married? I don’t care if you get married or not, you are playing for a while or that Ma Junhua took the initiative to stick you, which I don’t care, it doesn’t matter, but because we have a child, is the issue of belonging to the child.

Chen Gang: I’ll just say it, the conditions allow, can.

原配:You will get married, right? Very well. Of course, I will go for child custody, but for example, if the child is awarded to her, I hope you will be kind.

Chen Gang: We do not get everything right, but in the end to be a good person, can not be a good person at every point …… I say the complexity is in this place. In the end, please bear with me more!

Original mate: you slept with my wife, but also let me take the burden, you say this is not meaningful.

Chen Gang: No, no, no, what I mean is, please forgive me.

The original spouse: I can not forgive this thing.

Chen Gang, 48, a graduate of Peking University and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, served at the Development Research Center of the State Council and later held several positions at CICC, including coordinator of the legal department in the U.S. office and compliance attorney in the Beijing and Hong Kong offices.

According to CICC’s annual report last year, Chen Gang’s annual salary was as high as RMB 5.93 million. The female lead, Ma, who has a master’s degree and has been in the securities industry for 15 years, is rumored to be Chen Gang’s female subordinate.

Just 10 days ago, CICC Capital, a subsidiary of CICC, just broke the scandal of executive general manager Han Tao cheating in marriage, using public office for personal gain and enriching himself, and now it is the turn of the compliance director. The whole Chinese financial circle seems to be silently eating CICC’s big peach melon.

CIMB was quick to take action and issued an announcement on the night the recording was exposed, saying that Chen Gang could not continue to perform the duties of compliance director due to health reasons, and the board of directors agreed that the chief executive officer would take over the responsibilities until the company hired a new compliance director.
