Kazakh national Zhehejiang jailed for 13 years on espionage charges and then allowed to return after 4 years of detention

Kazakh national Hehejiang arrives in Almaty to reunite with his family after completing his prison sentence.

A Kazakh national from Bole, Xinjiang, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison for “espionage” and four years in a re-education camp after completing his sentence, was allowed to leave China and fly to Kazakhstan on Friday (9), where he cried tears of joy with his family after 17 years of absence. In addition, a few days ago, another Xinjiang people who fled to Kazakhstan was attacked by unknown. (By Qiao Long/Cheng Wen)

In 2004, Kazakh herder Hehejiang was charged with espionage by the Chinese Communist Party authorities and sentenced to 13 years in prison by a court in Bole, Xinjiang. We first asked to interview Ruihejiang, who had just arrived, but Ruiis Khan, an ethnic Kazakh who was there to greet him, told us that Ruihejiang was so emotional when he saw his relatives that the whole family hugged each other and cried with joy, not knowing what to say, and wanted to take a break before being interviewed.

The family is not easy to reunite for the first time in 17 years, and now they can’t concentrate on their emotions and thinking, so they will be interviewed in a day or two.

17 years apart, Ruihejiang finally reunited with his family

He also told the station that during the reunion, there was laughter and sighs, even though Hehejiang has three generations in the same family, but with his daughter-in-law and four grandchildren is the first time they have the opportunity to meet.

The company has been sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment for espionage, and after his release from prison, he was imprisoned in a concentration camp, and arrived in Kazakhstan this morning from Almaty International Airport to reunite with his family. He has been separated from his family for 17 years. He has four grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, all of whom he is meeting for the first time. His wife, Palidan, continued to protest outside the Chinese Consulate General in Almaty for over 60 days.

Dina, an ethnic Kazakh, was also at the airport to greet him, and she was emotional when she mentioned that Hehejiang had regained his freedom.

Dina: He came to Almaty from Chengdu, we arrived at the airport at 6:00 this morning, the plane was an hour late, arrived at 7:00, and came out of the airport at 8:00. We are also very excited, we started preparing last night and got up at 4 o’clock in the morning.

Atajulte continues to call for Jehol’s release

The founder of the Kazakh civil society organization “Atadzulte Volunteers”, who has been campaigning for Jehol for a long time, is happy that Jehol has been granted real freedom.

Sergian: It is a credit to his wife and Atajulte Volunteers that Jehol has returned to Kazakhstan after 17 years to be reunited with his family. It is also a wise choice and concession made by the Chinese Communist Party under international pressure. There is only one way out for the Chinese Communist authorities, and that is to release all illegally imprisoned Kazakhs and Uighurs. Unless this happens, we will never stop our rights activities. If the Chinese Communist authorities do not immediately stop their crimes against humanity, human rights and humanity, their Belt and Road program throughout Central Asia will not move forward.

Xinjiang Education Camp Exploder Attacked in the Streets of Kazakhstan

On the other hand, there was another attack on a local fugitive from Xinjiang in Kazakhstan. The first time the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has released a man from Xinjiang who was imprisoned in a re-education camp and has arrived in Kazakhstan, Bahtali Nur, was attacked by unidentified people in Kazakhstan, suspected of exposing the inner workings of the re-education camp, Selkjian told the station.

The day before yesterday, he was attacked by unknown people for no apparent reason, he fainted on the ground, some neighbors came out and saw him, and several people ran away.

Dozens of Kazakhs continue to protest with banners outside the Chinese Consulate General in Kazakhstan now, demanding that Xinjiang authorities release their loved ones.

Reihejiang, 58, is the first ethnic Kazakh to be sentenced in Xinjiang on “espionage” charges since China’s Cultural Revolution in 1966, which rocked Kazakhstan. In 2017, Radio Free Asia was the first to report on Reihejiang’s sentencing by a court in Bole, Xinjiang, in 2004. In that year, Bole’s security bureau accused Rhehejiang of providing information to Kazakh state officials by pulling the strings of a high-ranking official in Bole, Ma. During his interrogation, Rhehejiang was tortured. During the 13 years that Zhehejiang served his sentence, Zhehejiang’s wife, Palidan, visited him once a year and was allowed only 10 minutes for each visit. She never expected that on September 7, 2017, after completing his sentence, he would be sent to a “de-extremist education base” in Hot Spring County.
