Recently, Gong Yunzun, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Ruili Municipal Committee, was punished by having his party position and administrative post removed for three local outbreaks in the past six months. In addition, China is currently experiencing shortages of the new crown vaccination.
According to the official website of the Yunnan provincial government, the Yunnan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision made a disciplinary action against Gong Yunzun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Dehong Prefecture Committee and Secretary of the Ruili Municipal Committee, for revoking his party position and administrative position and demoting him to the rank of first-class researcher; and opened a case for review and investigation into his serious dereliction of duty in the prevention and control of the epidemic.
The authorities issued a notice alleging that Ruili City in more than half a year in three consecutive incidents of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, especially the “3-29” epidemic events, serious impact and damage to the national and provincial epidemic prevention and control of the overall situation, serious impact and impact on the province’s economic and social development and the overall situation, resulting in serious consequences and adverse effects. Gong Yunzun as the then secretary of the Ruili Municipal Committee has the main leadership responsibility, giving Gong Yunzun revocation of party positions, political dismissal, demoted to a researcher.
Wuhan resident Mr. Zhang said in an interview with the station that the removal of the secretary of the Ruili municipal party committee was deserved: “It should definitely be dealt with. We are pursuing officials from the Wuhan pandemic period, still in ferment, and Wuhan removed a dozen leaders during the epidemic.”
Beijing resident Guo Li believes that malfeasance officials should be removed from their posts, but is afraid of getting reappointed later: “It should be removed, and not necessarily until the removal, he should take the initiative to resign. I remember during the Sanlu milk powder incident, the health minister and some cadres were forced to resign as a result.”
Tianjin resident Tang Xinbo believes that the central government is also responsible for the repeated outbreaks in Ruili. She doesn’t think Gong Yunzun, secretary of the Ruili Municipal Committee, needs to be removed from his post. She said, “I think this thing should not be, why do you want to remove people, people should not take the responsibility. Is your central leadership responsible for this epidemic? That’s my opinion.”
China’s new crown epidemic inoculated with more than 150 million doses
As of April 7, China had received more than 150 million doses of the new coronavirus vaccine, according to Chinese official media reports. However, since April 1, several places have had to urgently suspend their second dose vaccination programs due to vaccine shortages.
The Haikou Health Commission reportedly issued a notice on April 4 that given the current limited carrying capacity of the vaccination clinics in Haikou and the relatively tight supply of the new crown vaccine, the second dose of the new crown vaccination for other people in Haikou will not be carried out for the time being. People who have not received the new crown vaccine can continue to make appointments, and the second vaccination is scheduled to start in late April, with the specific time to be announced.
Dongxing City, Guangxi Province, has announced that due to the insufficient number of vaccine stocks, the Office of the Dongxing City Epidemic Prevention and Control Command has decided to suspend vaccination services at all New Crown vaccination sites in the city from April 3, 2021.
Vaccine shortage in many places suspends second injection
Yao Tongli, vice president of the China Vaccine Industry Association, told Time Business on April 6 that the temporary shortage of New Crown vaccine in individual places may be related to regional deployment, “The country has a special department responsible for coordinating vaccine production and vaccination progress, so it is unlikely that there will be a large-scale shortage of New Crown vaccine.”
According to data released by China’s National Health Commission, as of April 5, 142.8 million doses of neo-crown virus vaccine had been reported cumulatively across the country. Among them, Beijing has reported 16,937,700 cumulative doses of the new coronavirus vaccine and 10,629,900 cumulative vaccinations.
Beijing resident Mr. Liu told the station on Thursday that some residents have not been injected with the second dose so far after being vaccinated on March 15: “I met a few people from Henan who work in Beijing’s Haidian district, and they injected the first dose on March 15 and have not had the second dose so far.”
At present, there is also a partial suspension of vaccination in Chaozhou, Guangdong and Jinyun, Zhejiang due to a shortage of supply of the new crown vaccine. However, several residents told the station that they would not receive the domestic vaccine based on safety concerns.
