Then-Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens speaks to a crowd at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery in University City, Missouri, on Feb. 22, 2017. The event took place during an attempted vandalism and overturning of 154 tombstones at the site.
Former Republican Missouri Governor Eric Greitens has pledged to take a strong stand against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) if he is elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022.
Greitens said the CCP should be held accountable for covering up the source of the CCP virus (New Coronavirus, COVID-19) that has allowed the disease to spread worldwide. The former governor pledged to stand up to the Chinese Communist regime’s ongoing persecution of faith-based groups, including tens of millions of Uighur Muslims and Falun Gong practitioners.
“We must have leaders who are willing to stand up and hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for human rights abuses. We need strong leaders who are willing to speak out about (the CCP’s) persecution of Uighurs, its suppression of Falun Gong and its suppression of other people of faith in China.” Greitens said.
“We need to tell the truth about how the Chinese Communist Party is repressing, imprisoning and often murdering people inside China.”
President Trump’s (Trump’s) administration has taken an unprecedented, principled and tough stance against the Chinese Communist Party, waging an all-out trade war to punish it for its unfair trade practices and pervasive intellectual property theft.
At the end of Trump’s term, for the first time in history, the State Department sanctioned Chinese Communist Party officials for persecuting Falun Gong, a traditional practice guided by the principles of “truth, kindness, and forbearance. Secretary of State Pompeo also took the unprecedented action of labeling the Communist Party’s atrocities against the Uighur people in Xinjiang as “genocide.
Greitens fully affirmed Trump’s approach to China and vowed to fight for Trump’s “America First” agenda in the Senate.
Greitens said, “We need to recognize that no other organization on this planet since the beginning of time has caused as many deaths as the Chinese Communist Party.” It is estimated that the policies of the Chinese Communist Party have directly or indirectly led to the deaths of tens of millions of people.
“I am very supportive of the hard line that President Trump has taken against the Chinese Communist Party,” Greitens added, “and one of the things I want to do is to be a champion of President Trump’s ‘peace through strength’ (PEACE) policy. strength’ policy, especially by standing up to the evil of the Chinese Communist Party.”
“What it’s really like” to be suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party
Greitens said he has personal experience of being oppressed by the authoritarian Communist regime.
In college, Greitens used a school-issued travel grant to take the first overseas trip of his life. At the time, he chose China as his destination.
He eventually took a job teaching English at a state-run company, and because he had never taught a language in China and had no experience with the Communist Party’s suppression of free speech, he encouraged open discussion among his students.
“The first question that came to me had to do with freedom of speech, freedom of assembly,” Greitens said, “and for many of them, I was the first foreigner to talk to them about relevant experiences.”
The free discussion lasted a few days before police showed up at the door of his dormitory.
“One Friday night, I was playing darts with some friends in the dormitory when two Chinese police officers appeared at the door. They told me I had to go to the police station,” Greitens said, “and I ended up being taken away by them and interrogated for a few hours.”
The officers asked him which students had brought up issues of the Constitution, freedom of speech and how he got the teaching job.
“My first experience overseas was a real taste of what it’s like and what it’s like to be oppressed by the Chinese Communist Party.” Greitens said.
Chinese Communist Party to be held accountable for concealing epidemic, allowing virus to spread worldwide
Trump has hinted more than once that he plans to hold the Chinese Communist Party responsible for covering up the outbreak and allowing the virus to spread around the world. For Wuhan, where the outbreak was first reported, Chinese authorities had strictly banned people from entering and leaving the country, but did not restrict international flights to and from the city.
Greitens said the Chinese Communist Party is “absolutely” responsible for the outbreak.
“I often call it the Chinese Communist virus. They need to take responsibility for it. Although the mainstream media is often reluctant to report this, the fact is that the Chinese Communist Party is still not transparent about the source of the virus.” Greitens said.
“The Chinese Communist Party is responsible because they withheld information about the virus early on and are responsible for the rapid outbreak and spread of the epidemic around the world.”
The road back to politics
Greitens resigned as governor of Missouri because of an investigation sparked by allegations of an extramarital affair. Shortly before he announced his withdrawal, the state legislature had initiated impeachment proceedings.
Since then, all charges against Greitens have been dropped. Kim Gardner, the prosecutor in the case, was elected with the support of liberal billionaire George Soros. Gardner’s conduct in the case is currently under investigation, and her lead investigator, faces seven felony charges related to the Greitens case, including tampering with evidence, perjury and more.
The case has similarities to the Trump-Russia investigation, which has been making waves in the media for three years, but ended with the president completely exonerated.
According to a survey of 400 Republican primary voters conducted by Trump pollsters Tony Fabrizio, David Lee and Travis Tunis, Greitens remains popular among Missouri Republicans despite a flood of negative press about him before he was cleared of any wrongdoing. still very popular.
According to an internal poll obtained by The Hill, Greitens led the rest of the Republicans in the Senate race with 48 percent of the vote, including state Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who received 11 percent, Rep. Ann Wagner and Rep. Jason Smith (D) received 9 percent and 7 percent of the vote, respectively.
