Update: Coroner rules Babbitt’s death a homicide, cause of death unknown for Officer Sinick

The National Archives reports that Washington, D.C. coroner Dr. Francisco J. Diaz ruled Wednesday that the Jan. 6 shooting death of unarmed Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt by police in Congress has been classified as a “homicide” caused by a “gunshot wound to the left front shoulder.

A statement from Diaz’s office said, “On Wednesday, January 6, 2021, an unprecedented civil disorder occurred at the U.S. Capitol, resulting in the deaths of five people. The Office of the Chief Coroner for the District of Columbia, Diaz, M.D., made determinations regarding the cause and manner of death of four of these individuals.”

The deaths of the other three protesters, in addition to Ms. Babbitt, were attributed by the coroner to drug intoxication or “natural causes.”

The cause of death of police officer Sinik was not listed, but Sinik was portrayed in the mainstream media as a victim of “rebellion. The National Archives has broken national news that there are indications that policeman Sinik died of an illness rather than as a result of the protests.
