In Hebei, China, a truck driver was fined 2,000 yuan (RMB) for “disconnecting his satellite positioning device” while passing through an “over-limit checkpoint” in Tangshan City’s Fengrun District on Monday (5). According to the report of the mainland media “Surfing News”, the driver was too angry and took pesticide to commit suicide, and eventually died after an ineffective resuscitation. The 51-year-old driver Jin Deqiang left a suicide note, saying he hoped to use his death to wake up the leaders to the importance of the matter. (Fang Dehao reports)
Mr. Jin, the brother of the suicidal truck driver Jin Deqiang, said that in the afternoon of April 5, when his brother was driving through an over-limit checkpoint in Fengrun District, his vehicle was not overweight after inspection, but the Beidou positioning was detected to be disconnected, and he was sentenced to impound the vehicle and fined 2,000 yuan. Unable to accept the fine, Jin Deqiang went to the neighborhood and bought a bottle of highly toxic “herbicide”.
Mr. Jin pointed out that Mr. Jin drank the herbicide in the corridor of the office of the over-limit checkpoint and was taken to the hospital 17 minutes later, where he died after the resuscitation failed. Afterwards, he learned from a hometown, his brother drank the drug, in a WeChat driver group released a film saying, “Look I drank the drug, 10 minutes no one cared no one asked”.
Jin Deqiang in the WeChat driver group released a suicide note also said that he was engaged in transportation for 10 years, did not earn money, but fell on diabetes, heart disease and many other diseases, the face of such a body also have to stick to work. He hopes to use his death to wake up the leadership of the matter.
According to Jin Deqiang’s brother, Jin Deqiang’s family has a 70-year-old mother and three children, usually driving a truck to earn money to make ends meet, the family’s economic conditions are not good.
According to mainland China regulations, road transport operators use satellite positioning device failure to keep online transport vehicles engaged in business activities, the road transport management agencies at the county level or above ordered to correct. If it refuses to make corrections, a fine of 800 yuan will be imposed.
Regulations also provide that the destruction of satellite positioning devices and malicious artificial interference, shielding satellite positioning device signal; falsification, tampering, deletion of vehicle dynamic monitoring data, one of the above circumstances, the road transport management agencies at or above the county level shall order rectification, a fine of 2,000 yuan or more than 5,000 yuan.
