Hundreds of new confirmed cases of the Chinese Communist virus associated with entertainment venues have been reported in Bangkok, Thailand, recently, leading to the closure of 196 stores. 7, Transport Minister Sasayan, who has received the first dose of the Astellicam (AZ) vaccine, was diagnosed with the infection, and several cabinet members and MPs had to be quarantined for 14 days as a result.
The Central News Agency reported that the outbreak of the Chinese communist virus disease (COVID-19, Wuhan pneumonia) in Thailand broke out again in early January this year, and the epidemic gradually slowed down after the government offered multiple control measures.
However, the Thai government announced on the 4th that 71 new cases were confirmed in entertainment venues in Bangkok and surrounding provinces, raising the alarm for the epidemic in Bangkok.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) therefore announced the closure of entertainment establishments such as bars and nightclubs in Klong Toey, Watthana and Bang Khae from the 6th to the 19th, affecting a total of 196 establishments.
The Bangkok Post reports that Thai Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob went to the hospital yesterday and was tested negative for the Chinese Communist virus, but this morning he developed a high fever and went to the hospital again, where he was screened and confirmed to be infected with the Chinese Communist virus. Sasayan suspects it may be because an official from his office has been to a nightclub in Bangkok’s Thonglor district.
Sasayan received his first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 16 and was scheduled to receive his second dose today, but the diagnosis was confirmed just before the vaccination.
A number of Thai cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Agriculture Minister Chalermchai Sri-on, and Education Minister Trinu Triran. Minister of Tourism and Sports Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Agriculture Chalermchai Sri-on and Minister of Education Trinuch Thienthong were all put under 14-day quarantine.
Sasayan attended an anniversary event of the Bhumjaithai Party, of which he is a member, on the evening of the 6th, so the 61 MPs of the Thai Pride Party also had to go into quarantine.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said after today’s cabinet meeting that a nationwide lockdown would be avoided. Next week is the back-to-back holidays of Songkran, the Buddhist New Year, commonly known as the Water Festival, and Prayut called on people to be responsible for their actions.
Thailand today announced 334 new confirmed cases, including 216 in Bangkok, for a cumulative total of 29,905 confirmed cases so far.
