Shanghai park whole tulips were plucked by tourists, a mess

During the Qingming period, the sun shone brightly in Shanghai. Many visitors were welcomed to the parks with flowers in full bloom and went out to enjoy the greenery.

According to the data released by Shanghai Municipal Greening Bureau, the city’s parks received a total of 2,355,300 visitors during this year’s Ching Ming holiday, an increase of 25.96% compared to 1,869,900 visitors during the same period last year.

Among them, city parks received 2,112,900 visitors, an increase of 21.49% compared with 1,739,200 visitors in the same period last year; country parks received 242,400 visitors, an increase of 85.46% compared with 130,700 visitors in the same period last year.

Among the parks, Gucun Park welcomed a total of 221,900 visitors in three days, with a daily average of more than 70,000 visitors, the most of any park in Shanghai.

However, a number of videos circulated on social media in the past two days, saying that “the tulips in Daning Park were dug up by tourists in a frenzy”, which immediately aroused much concern.

In the video, a large number of tulips were lying on the ground, and many tourists went into the bushes to take away the tulips. Some are picking the flowers, some are holding the whole plant away, almost everyone a handful, the scene is very chaotic.

After the video spread, netizens blew up. Some netizens shouted, “eating too ugly,” then, the truth is how?

Park managers told reporters, tulips in half a month ago, ushered in the blooming period.

The bloom period beauty, tulips although beautiful but the flowering period is short. Last week has been one after another into the flower defeat period, the staff plucked the decaying tulip flowers. The land in the flowerbeds is being plowed in preparation for the next season’s plants.

The staff confirmed: those tulips in the video, are dug up by the garden to prepare for disposal. Yesterday morning some people took these tulips away, the site staff did not stop.

However, they also reminded the public that the tulips in defeat will quickly rot. Take home is not very meaningful, and tulips belong to toxic plants. The flowers contain toxic alkali, not recommended for indoor planting.
