The epidemic in Europe does not stop with more than 60,000 new cases in France and the second dead in Europe in Italy

The French Ministry of Health reported data on the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic, with 66,794 new confirmed cases in the country today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to more than 4.8 million, ranking 4th in the world.

The Ministry of Health also reported today that 185 new people have died, bringing the total number of deaths in France to 96,678.

Official figures also show that the number of patients in intensive care units increased by 68 today, bringing the national total to 5,341, as France imposed its third national closure.

For the next four weeks, French schools will be closed at all levels and stores selling non-essential goods will be closed, as the government struggles to contain the spread of the epidemic and avoid overwhelming the healthcare system.

In addition, the Italian Ministry of Health reported that there were 18,025 confirmed cases and 326 deaths today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to more than 3.6 million.

Since the outbreak surfaced last February, Italy has lost 110,030 people to the epidemic, the second highest number in Europe.

The total number of patients hospitalized in Italy today (excluding intensive care units) is 28,432, and the number of patients in intensive care units is 3,703.
