Violent Maoist Group Raids Indian Police Force, Killing at Least 22 Policemen

At least 22 police officers have been killed in a raid by the violent Maoist group in central India, which has been rumored to have raided local police forces. The local government says this is the bloodiest raid by the ultra-leftist insurgent group so far this year.

The top police officer “Om Prakash Pal” said the attacked policemen belonged to the elite CoBRA unit of India’s Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and they were killed yesterday (3) in the central Indian province of Chhattisgarh (Chhattisgarh). Twenty-two members of the unit were killed and 30 wounded in a raid in Chhattisgarh, India, yesterday.

Ashok Juneja, deputy commissioner of the state police, said the troops were conducting a search operation near the forest in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh when they were about to turn back. They were ambushed and attacked. He also said that dozens of people are still missing, and the exact number of deaths will be announced later; the number of deaths of Maoist attackers is not yet known.

It is understood that the Maoist violent organizations (Maoist), also known as Naxals, is India’s pro-Maoist, advocating armed resistance to the authorities of the political parties and organizations in general, the organization has been waging an armed insurgency against the government for decades. Currently, the largest violent Maoist organization is the Communist Party of India (CPI). The leaders of the violent Maoist organizations have said that they are fighting for the, “poor who have never benefited from the ‘third largest economy in Asia’.”
