The Burmese military government has ordered Internet service providers to shut down wireless Internet services in the country, international telecommunications company Ooredoo said.
Ooredoo told AFP that the company recently received instructions from authorities. Only fiber optics will be able to operate from tomorrow. It is reported that only a small number of people in Myanmar have access to fiber optic internet service.
Separately, Khin Maung Zaw, a lawyer for deposed Burmese civilian government leader Onsan Suu Kyi, said today that Onsan was accused of violating the colonial official secrets law.
