Senior Judiciary Committee Senator Refocuses on Hunt’s Communist Party Ties, Asks Justice Department to Provide Records

Two Republican U.S. Senators recently renewed their focus on the ties between President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and the Chinese Communist Party. They have asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the intelligence community to provide all intelligence records of foreign nationals who have done business with Hunter, particularly those with ties to the Communist Party of China (CCP).

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Senate Permanent Select Committee on Investigations member Ron Johnson (R-TX) recently sent a letter to the Director of National Intelligence and the DOJ requesting records of financial transactions and contacts between members of the Biden family and foreign nationals associated with the CCP, including their military and intelligence contacts with the CCP. contact records.

Grassley and Johnson also asked the Department of Justice and the Office of the Director of Intelligence to send “all unclassified material directly to several Senate committees.

They added: “If any of the responsive documents do contain classified information, please isolate all unclassified material in the classified documents and provide all unclassified information directly to the committees and later to the Senate Security Office in a classified addendum.”

Last week, the senators released a report revealing “suspicious financial transactions” between Hunt and his associates and foreigners, including the wife of the former Moscow mayor and people with ties to the Chinese Communist Party, and amounting to millions of dollars.

The Republican senator’s letter focuses specifically on Hunt’s “close ties” to Chinese oil tycoon Jianming Ye, whose company, China Energy Corporation (CEFC), has sought oil rights in Chad and Uganda. According to reports, Ye has ties to the Communist regime’s People’s Liberation Army.

The president’s son also has close ties to Ye’s business partners, Gongwen Dong and Chi Ping “Patrick” Ho, the senators wrote.

It is imperative that Congress better understand the relationship between Ye, Dong and Ho with China’s Communist government, including the relationship between several of them, their relationship with Chinese energy companies and their activities in the United States, including those related to the Biden family,” they said. Therefore, please provide all intelligence records, including but not limited to all FISA-derived information related to these three individuals, by no later than April 14, 2021.”

During last year’s U.S. presidential election, one of Hunter’s former business associates leaked numerous text messages to the media, some of which revealed a close relationship with Ye. And other sources indicated that then-presidential candidate Joe Biden was aware of his son’s business activities, though he denied his knowledge of his son’s dealings with the Chinese Communist Party.

When Ho was indicted by the U.S. Justice Department in 2017, he reportedly made multiple phone calls to President Biden’s brother, James Biden, who said he believed it was a call to Hunter.

A three-judge bench of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan, New York, determined that Ho was convicted by a federal jury in December 2018 while charged with conspiracy in connection with the United Nations to bribe the presidents of Chad and Uganda. Meanwhile, he has not been seen since he was placed in the custody of Communist authorities in early 2018.

The news has raised concerns among the American public about foreign influence on U.S. policy. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said earlier this month that while Hunt still holds a stake in a Chinese private equity firm, he “has been working to reduce his investments.”

According to reports, FBI agents are now investigating Hunter’s “tax affairs,” which also include his business dealings with China. President Biden responded by saying that he would not interfere with any Justice Department investigation of Hunter.
