From “Acts of the Apostles 2: Acts of Espionage,” on the difficulty of telling a good story.

What makes a movie good is not what good story it tells, but how well it tells it.

If you use the technique of summarizing the main idea of an essay that you learned as a child, combined with the technique of amplification and abbreviation in the abbreviation technique, in one sentence, “Acts of the Apostles 2: Acts of Espionage” tells the story of a pair of childhood brothers who meet again when they grow up, in 98 minutes.

Brotherhood is the birthplace of many movies. The best storytelling I’ve seen is Mystic River, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Sean Penn. The recent Hong Kong film Narcotics 2 is also about brotherhood, and even stars Louis Koo as one of the brothers, the villain with the most inner struggle, so much so that I have to wonder, does Louis Koo know how to string plays together in his head?

The director of “Apostle 2: Espionage”, Weihong Wen, has used many methods to make the movie look good and to tell this story of brotherhood well.

Burning up the scene in the theater is a must. As for the actors, Zhang Jiahui, Louis Koo, and Francis Ng play the role of an iron triangle. When these three appear together on the screen, the degree of combustion is naturally indisputable. In the past, there was a lot of people who were interested in the movie, but there was also a lot of people who were interested in the movie. In the last episode of the show, the movie is about a man in the middle of the night, and he’s a very good guy. In the final battle, Zhang Jiahui was dressed in white and this one was dressed in black. The movie is also a great success.

A movie like “Act of the Apostle 2” must be seen in a movie theater. The overall atmosphere created by the stereo surround sound and the immersive feeling brought by the big screen seem to cover the entire space, whether it is the exciting atmosphere or the soothing and tender atmosphere, can be conveyed more accurately.

The soundtrack, cinematography, lighting, and editing of “Acts of the Apostles 2” are all superb, especially the bullfighting scene in Spain, where the audience can feel the menace of the bull charging through the sound and images.

It is through the alternation of tense and soothing emotions that the audience’s emotions are fully guided and replaced by the film. Whether or not the audience can be successfully replaced is one of the implicit criteria for judging the success of a movie.

The creators of Acts 2 added some very nice elements to make it look good, such as the Rubik’s Cube and the running of the bulls.

The Rubik’s Cube is the most important theme of the film. Chips and Ah Dee become good friends because of the Rubik’s Cube game, and Mr. Tung’s team probably noticed them because they could play the Cube.

Probably because the Rubik’s Cube has such an important role in the film, the opening of the film uses a lot of Rubik’s Cube elements, which is innovative, but not connotative enough, and it would be even better if the whole story structure later on can be formed into a “Rubik’s Cube”. The structure of the rest of the story is more appropriately described as a “jigsaw puzzle”. The scar on Jinxian’s body is the last piece of the “puzzle”.

The highlight of the film is the bullfighting part, which is something that the audience can still remember when they walk out of the movie theater.

The thrilling atmosphere created by the bulls running through the streets is truly unique. Zhang Jiahui’s drive toward Gutierrez begins to confuse the audience as to what is going on between the two, but the camera recedes and the bull appears, revealing that Cheng Tao is not trying to run over Ah Jing, but to intercept the running bull. The bull pushes his horns wildly against Cheng Tao and a hole is made in the car door, through which Cheng Tao’s blood flows out. The scene is very bloody and contemporary.

At the end of the duel, Cheng Tao holds on for the last second and asks A-jing, “How did you get through all these years?” This sentence is very accurate and very heartfelt. It’s a good way to show the essence of “a good brother is in your heart”.

The reason why Cheng Tao misses Chips so much is because he keeps asking in his heart how he came to be here, and the guilt that always exists in his heart, if Chips hadn’t turned around to save himself, he would have been arrested and trained to be a dirty cop. The most important part of brotherhood is empathy. The reason why Dizang, played by Louis Koo, became a villain in Narcotics Anonymous 2 is because Andy Lau cut off his hand without asking him what happened, and that made him hold a grudge for life.

To be fair, the creative team of The Apostle 2 worked very hard, but the Douban rating is still not very high, and I also rate it three stars. The villain is played by Zhang Yichi, although there is hostility and perverted performance, but still not creamy and silly, I think it is not enough to interpret this character.

From the past to the present, the old actors and actresses have been working hard on Hong Kong films, and the technical angle of the camera photography is also superb, and more and more skillful and exquisite, the shortage of the part still lies in innovation, gun battles, drug chases, undercover police and bandits, there should be a new world of new methods.
