The South Korean capital Seoul said Thursday it has submitted a proposal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to co-host the 2032 Olympics with Pyongyang, North Korea. Previously South Korea and North Korea had agreed to jointly bid for the Olympics. But relations between South Korea and North Korea are currently lukewarm. The IOC has selected Brisbane, Australia as its preferred partner to host the 2032 Olympics.
South Korea has proposed to the International Olympic Committee to co-host the 2032 Olympics with North Korea, Reuters reported today. South Korea’s capital, Seoul, said on Thursday it has made a proposal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to co-host the 2032 Olympic Games with Pyongyang, North Korea, even though Brisbane, Australia, is the frontrunner in the bid for the city.
The IOC has selected Brisbane as its preferred partner to host the 2032 Games, the report said.
According to the report, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un agreed to a joint bid to host the Games at a summit in Pyongyang in 2018. However, relations have deteriorated since 2019.
