Young Burmese girl worried about safety of family and friends: Military sweeps up anyone who moves – Los Angeles people support Burma’s resistance to Communist China

On Wednesday, March 31, some immigrants of Burmese descent and pro-democracy activists gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles to show solidarity with the Burmese people and protest the violent crackdown carried out by the Chinese Communist Party with the assistance of the Burmese military since the Burmese military staged a coup in February.

On March 31, some immigrants of Burmese descent and overseas pro-democracy activists in Los Angeles gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles to demand that the Chinese Communist Party stop aiding the Burmese military.

Event organizer Li Maung of Friend of Burma said the Burmese military is committing atrocities, repressing unarmed and peaceful people, and even killing underage children, in violation of basic standards of humanity.

“The Burmese military, we call them terrorists, they terrorize, they bomb, they kill people, they even go to people’s homes and shoot their children in front of their Parents,” she said.

Tammy Hwa, from Burma, said, “We are here today in front of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles because we want to protest against the Chinese Communist Party, which is the biggest supporter of the Burmese military and needs to be held accountable for (their) murderous crimes.”

It is reported that after the Burmese military coup, despite the CCP’s repeated denials of military aid to the Burmese military, the Burmese citizens’ group Justice for Myanmar (JFM) issued a report stating that five Chinese Communist state enterprises provided arms to the Burmese military.

As a result, Tan believes the Chinese Communist Party is responsible for the bloodshed of Burmese people killed by the Burmese military. “We are very angry with the Chinese Communist Party. The Chinese Communist Party is the backbone of the Burmese military, and if the Chinese Communist Party does not support it, the Burmese military is very weak. So we came here to ask the Chinese Communist Party to stop supporting the (Burmese) military.”

Young girl worried about the safety of her Family and friends

Despite the Burmese military’s ongoing forceful crackdown on the population, Burmese have so far continued their non-violent struggle for democracy.

A young girl from Burma, Eaint Aung, is very frustrated and worried about the current situation in Burma. She said, “Our family in Burma actually lives in a big city where there are a lot of people and busy business activities, and my grandmother told my mother that she was afraid they [the Burmese military] would create an air strike.”

“My grandmother is almost 80 years old and she shouldn’t have to live in that fear. My mother also told my grandmother not to let my nephew go outside because they (the military) will strafe anyone who moves. My nephew is only 2 years old and he shouldn’t live in this kind of fear either.”

When the Burmese military staged a coup on Feb. 1, hundreds of thousands of Burmese people took to the streets to protest and fight for democracy. Since then, there has been a steady stream of news of people being strafed and killed by the military. On March 27 alone, Burma’s Military Day, more than 100 people were killed across the country, and a 1-year-old baby, shot in the eye with a rubber bullet, was seen as the bloodiest day since the coup.

“These are not things that children and old people should worry about,” Aung said, “but instead it happened, and it’s unacceptable, you know, they (the military) just want to take over power. I have a lot of friends (who are still in Burma) who wake up every morning and hear gunshots.”

She called on the UN Human Rights Council to play its proper role and not become a body that serves the Chinese Communist Party to stop it from aiding the Burmese military and persecuting human rights.

Overseas Democrats: Support Burma’s Resistance to Chinese Communist Party

The crowd at the protest in front of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles on March 31 included not only Burmese living abroad, but also pro-democracy activists from the Chinese Democratic Party. The protesters displayed slogans such as “Stop the Chinese Communist Party from assisting the coup”, “Support Burma’s resistance to the Chinese Communist Party”, and “Persecute human rights and the Chinese Communist Party will perish”, calling on the international community to pay attention to human rights in Burma.

Yaya Liu, president of the Los Angeles Visual Artists Association, said the Burmese military is currently doing more than simply preventing protesters from taking to the streets. “They are even going to people’s homes at night and even taking people away (to be killed), which is totally unacceptable.”

“And the Chinese Communist Party is supporting the (Burmese) military,” she said, “What worries me is that if (the Chinese Communist Party is supporting) the Burmese military in doing things like this, then surely China (the Chinese Communist Party) will do the same thing to the Chinese people.”

According to media reports, in the face of strong international condemnation and sanctions in response to the Myanmar military’s violence, the Chinese Communist Party has stressed that other countries should not interfere in the “internal affairs” of Myanmar.

According to Tan Meihua, “Crimes Against Humanity are not an ‘internal affair,’ and the bloody killing of children is even less of a crime. The Chinese Communist Party has always violated human rights, both in mainland China and in Hong Kong. As a dictator, it [the CCP] is always used to saying ‘internal affairs’ while spreading its black hand all over [the world].”
