Japanese media exploded the Chinese mainland and North Korea to resume trade relations in April

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported on March 30, citing multiple sources, that mainland China and North Korea are preparing to resume trade in mid-April that was suspended due to the New Crown Pneumonia (CCP virus) outbreak.

“I heard that North Korea plans to start receiving goods from China in mid-April,” said a Chinese man in his 30s who works at a trading company in Dandong City, as quoted by the Nikkei Shimbun. He said the information came from the North Korean side and said he was preparing to resume business. Several other trading companies said they expect bilateral trade to resume in April.

The report noted that the goods will initially be transported to and from Dandong and Sinuiju cities via the railroad on the Sino-DPRK Friendship Bridge. North Korea has set up a virus testing station in Sinuiju, and if everything is in order, ship and truck traffic will resume. Sources said that North Korea needs Medicine to treat diabetes, infections and other diseases, and that the “bilateral trade” is actually aid from mainland China to North Korea, adding that North Korea also wants fertilizer as the spring planting season approaches.
