Currently, nine counties in Virginia have passed resolutions to boycott live organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party.
The nine counties are: Fairfax, Shenandoah, Frederick, Prince William, Loudoun, Fauquier, Warren, Spotsylvania and Madison. Spotsylvania and Madison counties.
The resolution also warns local residents of the risks of traveling to China for organ transplants so that they do not inadvertently become complicit in the forced organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience, such as Falun Gong practitioners, by the Chinese Communist Party.
In March 2020, a written judgment issued by the UK’s Independent People’s Tribunal said, “(Live) forced organ harvesting has been occurring on a large scale throughout China for many years, with Falun Gong practitioners being one – and possibly the main – -source of human organs.”
“Any government that has substantial interaction with China (the Chinese Communist Party) in the related fields of doctors, medical institutions, industry, tourism, aviation, finance, lawyers, pharmaceuticals, insurance, Education, the arts, etc., should now recognize that they are interacting with a criminal regime.”
Frederick County (Virginia) Commissioner David D. Stegmaier, who passed the resolution, said, “I want to thank the Falun Gong practitioners for their courage and perseverance in letting the world know that this tragedy occurred.” “There are at least 70 million Falun Gong practitioners in China, a number that exceeds the membership of the Chinese Communist Party. The Chinese Communist regime sees this as a threat and has taken every means to prohibit it, including the heinous persecution and torture of Falun Gong practitioners.”
Warren County Commissioner Walter Mabe said that the CCP’s forced organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners “is a crime against humanity, it’s about people, and we’re all part of the world. We should all stand up against it.
We need to take action,” said Prince William County Board of Commissioners member Yesli Vega. There have to be consequences for what (the Chinese Communist Party is doing).”
Chirstopher Granger, chairman of the Fauquier County Commission and sponsor of the resolution, said the U.S. federal government “should stand up and speak out against forced organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party.
Kevin Marshall, chairman of the Spotsylvania County Commission, said, “We want everyone in Spotsylvania County to be aware of this [forced organ harvesting]. We don’t want anyone involved in this.”
Spotsylvania County Board of Commissioners member Gary F. Skinner said, “I want the United States to stand up to the Chinese Communist Party and say, this is unacceptable and it needs to stop.”
Loudoun County Commission Chairman Phyllis J. Randall said the U.S. federal government needs to make it clear to the Chinese Communist Party that “Americans do not approve of this. We can use trade, economic and other forms of sanctions to help stop this practice.”
Koran T. Saines, vice chairman of the Loudoun County Commission, suggested “a holistic approach to stopping the CCP from forcibly harvesting organs.”
“From the city level, to the county (county) level, to the state level, to the federal level, to have a dialogue with the Chinese Communist Party and get the United Nations on board. So, we have to use all of the above.”
At the U.S. federal government level, in June 2016, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed Resolution 343, demanding that the CCP immediately stop persecuting Falun Gong and forcibly harvesting the organs of Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience.
On March 9, 2021, members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senators introduced the “Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act” in the new Congress. The bill, if passed, would legislate against the inhumane practice of forcible harvesting of human organs by the Chinese Communist Party.
In 2020, 49 Virginia state legislators also signed a letter to former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo asking the U.S. State Department to help stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party and to focus on the crime of forced organ harvesting.
