As the Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) Epidemic continues, China is pursuing “vaccine diplomacy,” and Pakistan is one of the targets of China’s vaccine diplomacy, as President Arif Alvi received a vaccination against the virus produced by China National Pharmaceutical Group on the 15th of this month. On Monday (29), Alvi announced the confirmation of his diagnosis in a tweet, stating that he still tested positive for the virus after receiving his first dose of the Chinese vaccine.

First Lady Samina Alvi tweeted that Alvi’s symptoms were mild and he was in good spirits. Both Samina and Alvi have been tested for the new coronavirus and Samina has shown a negative reaction and is currently in quarantine.
In addition to President Alvi, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan (Imran Khan) this month after the first dose of vaccine, on March 20 also tested positive for the virus, is currently in private homes in isolation, Pakistani officials believe that Imran Khan may have been infected before the vaccination, and he only received the first of the two required doses. Imran’s wife and two senior members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party have also been confirmed positive.
