New York Asian woman attacked by a black man building security looked on indifferently

A woman of Asian descent was attacked by a man in Manhattan on Monday afternoon, but security guards in the building looked on and closed the door after the attacker left, instead of helping the fallen woman.

According to the surveillance video released by the New York City Police Department (NYPD), a 65-year-old Asian woman was attacked by a stout black man outside a building in Manhattan on Monday. The attacker kicked the woman down before aiming for three hard kicks to the head. According to police, the man also said to the victim, “F— you. you don’t belong here.” He then walked away slowly. The attacked Asian woman was hospitalized with serious injuries, but is in stable condition.

The security camera caught several security guards inside the building not only did not help the woman, but also closed the door. The images came to light and drew a lot of criticism from netizens, and the New York Police Department criticized these people on Twitter for being callous and heartless. The owner of the building issued a statement today, saying that the group of employees have been suspended and pending investigation.

Police said New York has seen 33 attacks this year that discriminated against Asians, and all of them were caused by Wuhan pneumonia (new coronavirus disease, COVID-19).
