In 1990, the “90s” began to arrive in the world.
At the same time, “Kid’s Got Talent” was released and became a worldwide hit. It cost less than $20 million and grossed nearly $480 million at the box office. Twentieth Century Fox, the producer of the film, struck while the iron was hot, creating two sequels in seven years.
Before Harry Potter, the most popular foreign children’s movie was the “Kid’s Home” series.

The director of the first two films in the series, Chris Columbus, was later the director of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and it can be said that this director is responsible for half of the post-90s childhood.
The Academy Award-winning supporting actor Joe Pesci, who played the role of the thief, was a hilarious figure without whom the movie would have been lost.
Ten-year-old Macaulay Culkin became the hottest child star in the United States, earning $8 million, and even Michael Jackson invited him to his “dream house” as a guest.

However, with the departure of Chris Columbus, Joe Pesci, and Macaulay Culkin, the critical and box office reception of “Kid’s Home 3” has fallen dramatically.
The fourth and fifth installments were made with completely different casts and were TV movies, not theatrically released, so technically they were no longer “sequels” to the originals.
Fox then abandoned the children’s IP, until it was bought by Disney.
Disney is good at playing IP, the comic book and Pixar raised up, for Fox’s IP that must be none to let go.
At the beginning of August, Disney announced development plans for the Fox movie, and a reboot of “The Kid’s Home” is imminent.
The new version of “Kid’s Home” will be available on Disney+ streaming platforms, and will likely be made into a serialized American series.

The news instantly brought back countless memories and emotions.
Among them was the main character of the year, Macaulay Culkin.
He took to social media platforms to manually @Disney to offer himself for a role in the reboot.

It was like Daniel Radcliffe reprising his role as Harry Potter, which was supposed to be an exciting thing.
The reality, however, is worrisome.
If you don’t believe me, read Macaulay Culkin’s recent story.

Back in 1995, Macaulay Culkin’s new film, Richie Rich, Jr. was getting good reviews, and he’s been making at least one movie a year almost since he became famous.
In this way he became the “breadwinner” of the family, a true “kid in charge.

However, he also became an object of contention between his parents. Because of the breakdown of their relationship, his parents fought for his custody, and they turned from husband and wife into enemies.
Yes, as long as he can raise Culkin, he will probably have no worries in his next life.
Seeing that his parents had turned against each other, Culkin made a decision to quit the film industry, study hard, and stop making movies. What’s the point of arguing about this?
It was such an act for the sake of family harmony, but it angered his father, and the relationship between father and son broke down and has not recovered to this day. The father relentlessly told the press that he no longer considered McCauley his son.
Kalkin lost his family of origin as well.

Having lost his family, Culkin was left without parental guidance, and he began to do unruly things.
In 1996, he fell in love with child actress Rachel Miner, also born in 1980, and they were engaged at the age of 16.
They actually got married two years later.
The former child star seems to have grown up.
Who knows, the beauty that comes too easily is only an illusion set up by God.
After only two years together, the couple broke up.
Macaulay Culkin wanted to return to the film industry and put his trust in his work. In 2003, he made his comeback with “Party Monster”, which was meant to be a surprise, but his time was over, he was not noticed, and the movie was a box office flop.
After that, Culkin took on a few more movies, but they were not very successful. Once a child star, he had become a second-tier actor, an embarrassing change of status that he could not accept.

McCauley Culkin was devastated by two successive family breakdowns, a poor career, and the death of his best friend, Michael Jackson.
In 2011, he was indicted by the police for illegal drug possession. Faced with a messy life, he smoked, drank and played in bands.
In 2012, he started his own rock band, “The Pizza Underground”, and started touring. But audiences didn’t buy it, and in 2014 his band was tragically evicted from the stage after beer bottles were thrown at them by an angry audience.
The band’s career was a complete failure anyway.

After leaving the rags-to-riches life of the band, Culkin’s life has instead improved.
In 2015, he attended the 25th anniversary of “Kid’s Got Talent” and took up acting again. On the eve of Christmas, he brought out his web short “DRYVRS”, a “tribute” to his famous work.
In the short film, he appears with long hair, and many of his lines are retellings of the plot of DRYVRS, ending with a reenactment of one of the most classic scenes from the original film, in which Kevin holds his hands to his face and screams in horror.

In 2018, he reprises his role as the grown-up Kevin. a 60-second commercial for Google Assistant shows him with his long hair cut off, showing the audience the Google Intelligent Assistant and what happens when he owns his own house.
Over and over again, he tells the audience that the eccentric Kevin is not gone.

In 2019, he starred in his friend Seth Green’s new movie “Tayu Kee”, which was poorly received, but he is finally back as an actor.
He posted an ugly photo on social media to ridicule Disney’s reboot plans, but it was just a deliberate “self-hacking”. He did attract media attention by doing so, and soon after he updated his post to say “Disney, call me! Expressing a desire to return.

In fact, at the end of 2018, when he participated in the Fatron show, he was already back to his “human” self, he didn’t look too old, and he had no problem acting.

For Macaulay Culkin, it would certainly help his career if he could really work with Disney and return to a new version of “Kid’s Got Talent,” which is why he’s volunteered to at least try to get an audition.
After all, he’s 39 years old.
If he doesn’t seize the opportunity, his life could be over.

If he does return, Culkin might be able to play a fatherly role and keep Kevin’s son in the “kid’s home”. If Disney doesn’t have confidence in him, he’ll have to make a cameo appearance at best, which is a kind of tribute to the original.
Some netizens have also expressed their uneasiness about the reboot because nowadays, if a child is alone at home, he can notify his parents with a text message or even call the police if there is any problem, so there is no need to deal with the stupid thief himself.
So before considering the actors, Disney should first consider how to develop the story in a practical way.

People get older every day, but they’re always afraid. –The Kid’s Home
