Illegal immigrant families at the border to reach 800,000 U.S. Department of Homeland Security prepares

U.S. Border Patrol apprehends about two dozen illegal immigrants in Penitas, Texas, on March 11, 2021.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials expect that by the end of September this year, approximately 500,000 to 800,000 illegal immigrants will have arrived in the United States as Family groups, a number that exceeds the record number of people who entered the country illegally in 2019. Now government officials are now looking for facilities to house these families while their immigration cases are processed, the U.S. media noted.

According to U.S. media outlet Breitbart, U.S.-Mexico border enforcement under President Biden‘s administration is preparing to host illegal immigrants, setting up reception centers to help the 800,000 immigrant families headed to the U.S. in the future, as well as a record number of unaccompanied child migrants (UAC) and a growing number of single male immigrants.

Biden’s DHS secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, did not support the previous administration’s immigration policies. Conservatives decry that the new DHS report does not spell out any way to take steps to stop, halt or reduce the inflow of illegal immigrants. They claim that the inflow of illegal immigrants will generate billions of dollars for human traffickers and drug smugglers.

With no current Biden Administration policies in place that could stop the border problem, outsiders expect the number of unaccompanied immigrant minors to rise sharply for at least the next two months. The U.S. government estimates that about 18,600 to 22,000 unaccompanied children are expected to cross the border in April. By May, that number could rise to between 21,800 and 25,000.

According to government data, U.S. border facilities took in about 16,000 youths and children who entered the country illegally in March, the highest number recorded since 2010. in February, the number was about 9,300, and in January it was about 5,700.

Breitbart believes that if 20,000 underage immigrants enter the country this way each month, the inflow would reach 240,000 for the year.

The report said that 130,000 illegal immigrants have sneaked across the border since Oct. 1 last year. That number is almost four times the number of immigrants in 2020. And these record numbers may still be a significant underestimate of the influx of migrants.

Some organizations believe that the current influx of immigrants may pose a bigger crisis than imagined. Jim Clifton, chairman and CEO of Gallup Poll (Gallup), warned on March 24 that some 42 million people south of the United States may want to immigrate to the United States.

DHS Secretary Mayorkas has embraced the notion that the United States is a “nation of immigrants” by encouraging the expansion of U.S. immigration laws and making numerous positive public statements related to immigration. He has overseen practices that have been condemned for making it harder for illegal immigrant minors to arrive in the U.S. and for making it more attractive to immigrants.

Breitbart denounced that “every additional poor immigrant in the United States is good for employers and investors, but a financial loss for taxpayers. For example, elderly immigrants increase government spending on health care, but are very beneficial to health care companies. Child immigrants increase K-12 Education spending, but benefit teachers and companies that sell school supplies. Adult immigrants need to work, eat, shop and sleep, which can generate income for employers, retailers and those who rent out property.”

“On the flip side, because of the influx of illegal immigrants, they can drive down wages for Americans, divert workplaces and investments, drive up housing prices and force schools to accept many students who do not speak English. All of these additional expenses or losses are borne by American citizens and their children.”
